This is a longggg overdue review but I needed the dust to settle after my dream wedding in Newport this June to adequately describe how grateful I am for this dream shop where I found my dream dress. TWD was the first place I went to when looking for a dress. I went with my mom and my sister and two friends. We had no expectations as this was our first time we were looking, as a matter of fact we were quite sure I was not going to purchase a dress that day! When you first step into the TWD you are treated like a queen and it was the first time that I felt like sh*t was getting real! Our stylist was Callan and I gave her a few examples of what I was thinking for my dress and she pulled a few gems. By the end of the appointment I had two dresses I loved! I loved the bottom of one but the top of the other and so right then and there my dream dress was created- callan immediately was like well we can make this! I shortly had both dresses on and our vision was made! I had a few anxious... Read more months after purchasing my dress since I never had on / or saw what exactly was going to be my dress. But when I finally saw it and tried it on I was in AWE.. it truly turned out to be the most amazing dress for me and I wish I could wear it everyday for the rest of my life! Callan got to be our stylist through every fitting and she truly was amazing and always made me feel beautiful. It was at the fittings where we also go to meet the amazing seamstress our MRS CT ( in my eyes at least) melissa- she worked her magic on my dress and made me love it even more- didnt know that was possible. My experience wouldn't have been the same without those 2. It was so sad to say goodbye after our final fitting as it became so fun seeing callan and melissa every month! And it was always extra special when Beth the owner would pop in during a fitting and come up with ideas to make the dress ever more perfect! I truly would recommend this shop a million x over for anyone looking for their dream wedding dress! All my love to theTWD team I am so thankful for them all!

I bought my dress from The White Dress by the Shore and worked with Michelle. SHE WAS INCREDIBLE!! She listened to everything I asked for and was super attentive to my style. I met Beth as well who is absolutely lovely. The women at this store will make sure all your dreams for the perfect wedding dress come true!!! Michelle even hand wrote a note and mailed the letter to me remembering little details of my experience!!! 100% the best place to buy your gown, bridesmaid dresses or even just a dress for the town!!!

It was such a pleasure being able to work with Kelsey to help me and my mom find my dream dress. Kelsey made the experience so relaxed and comfortable and she was very patient as I tried on all sorts of dresses. She really made the process as stress-free as possible. My mom and I were lucky to be able to return for a second look before ultimately finding my dream dress. Kelsey was so thoughtful and saved my dress so I could try it on one last time before making a final decision. Beth was there when I picked up my gown and she also a pleasure to get to know and so friendly. My mom and I have been raving about our local wedding boutique and have recommended it to anyone who is looking for a great experience with wedding dress shopping! My daughter and her sisters and future mother in law all went to see Kelsey try on gowns and what a perfect experience. The room we sat in was private and comfortable.Abby was great with letting Kelsey pick out gowns she wanted to try. The shop manager stopped in a couple of times to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. We were even allowed to take pictures of her in the dresses which some shops do not allow. We had been to two other shops in RHODE ISLAND but the experience could not compare to here. Kelsey said ‘YES’ to her dress here, we were all served champagne and pictures were taken with the YES sign. Couldn’t have been better, Potential buyers beware.....Connecticut charges 7.75% luxury tax on anything over 1000$.

The White Dress by The Shore was absolutely the perfect experience! I had the pleasure of working with Callan, Michelle and Penny (the in house seamstress) made my wedding dress perfect. Originally, I wasn't quite sure what dress to try on, but I was shown a wide variety. Because they suggested trying on multiple, even if I was skeptical of the style, I ended up choosing one I never thought... it was absolutely perfect! Each time I went in for a fitting, Penny made it more and more perfect, so perfect that on my last fitting, I didn't need anything touched up. Penny did an absolutely perfect job with my complicated, lace dress. Callan and Michelle always greeted myself and mother in law with big smiles. They helped me get in and out of my gown and answered all of my questions. On a side note, Callan makes absolutely amazing cinnabuns and hot cider... her food truck is amazing. But regardless, this dress shop is friendly, beautiful, and incredibly professional, their seamstress is beyon... Read mored talented.

When I stepped into the White Dress By The Shore boutique, I knew it was the place I was going to find my dream gown. Every single gown on the rack was just dreamy. Callan was my bridal stylist. I felt so lucky that she had an amazing style so similar to my own. We shared a love for bows too! I just adored her. After trying on a few dresses, she introduced the idea of customizing my gown. I never imagined that would have even been an option, but loved the idea that I could make a wedding dress with the exact fabric, neckline, and bow, and skirt that I wanted. Not only did they help me customize the dress, but they also helped me customize my bridesmaids' Lula Kate dresses. And when it came time for alterations, I worked with Penny. I found my perfect dress with the help of the wonderful ladies at The White Dress by the Shore! I couldn’t have been happier with TWD. They made the process so easy and stress-free. Penny, the seamstress is incredible! She did an amazing job on my alterations and I had no concerns leaving my dress in her hands that she would make it perfect - and she did!

The staff at The White Dress by the Shore helped me find my dream wedding gown! During my initial appointment, all alterations, and my final fitting, they made me feel like I was the only girl in the world. They were attentive, honest, enthusiastic, professional, organized, and personable. I was extremely happy with my experience and would definitely highly recommend them!!

Everyone at the shop was incredibly nice and helpful. I felt like they gave me plenty of time and attention trying on many dresses. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I was very comfortable and felt great through the whole process.

First off, this shop is quite literally the cutest thing I have ever seen, in the cutest town I have ever seen. First impression was amazing! So I am a plus-size bride, and I had shopped at one other store before coming to TWD. I didn't have a great experience, centering on the fact that I was plus size. Because of this, I was a little nervous for shopping at TWD and I was full of all the opposite feelings I should have had when shopping for my dream wedding dress. The minute I was introduced to Alyson, my consultant, all those negative feelings literally went out the door! What a sweetheart she is. I never once felt judged for not being thin, or not fitting into the samples, or anything. She made me feel so comfortable, like she had been my friend for years, which was amazing considering I had to go to my appointment alone because of COVID (my mom and bridesmaids live in other states, and it just wasn't possible to get anyone together during the pandemic). She was so supportive... Read more, and she did a great job at minimizing what she could tell I was insecure about, and hyping me up about the things I was confident about. She really helped me feel beautiful in the dresses I tried on, and she helped make me feel like I deserved to have a stellar appointment just like any other person, regardless of their size. I could go on for days about how lovely Alyson was, so I will leave it at that. Aside from my amazing consultant, everything else was also amazing, no joke. There were TONS of samples in plus sizes (I think they ranged from size 18 to 22), so I didn't feel like I had limited options or that women in my size range were undervalued in the slightest. I think I tried on 7 dresses, 3 or 4 different designers. She pulled a few from the board I had made (when you book your appointment, you get access to this online dashboard and they have pictures of most of their gowns, and you can save the ones you like), and like 2 others. Sure enough, I ended up choosing one she pulled for me that wasn't on my board! It was actually the first one I tried on, it literally called to me when it was on the rack. They did contactless payment too- Alyson went downstairs and texted me a bill, which I paid online. They also let me split the bill, so I paid 90% the day of my appointment, and the last 10% two weeks later when the dress was approved by the manufacturer, I believe. Also, there were tons of customizations offered, and it wasn't even a trunk show weekend! I was able to add covered buttons down the back of my dress, and make it into a v-neck back instead of backless. They also had a few samples showing how you could raise or lower the neckline of the dresses too. The customizations were a very fair price too, and fyi during trunkshows, they give some discounts on customizations too! So from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone at TWD for the lovely experience! Unfortunately, their in-house seamstresses were all booked for 2021 by the time I could book an appointment (you can't book the seamstress until your dress is confirmed by the manufacturer, which takes 2 weeks), so my experience with TWD ends here. Last thing I want to say is a piece of constructive criticism about touchless dress pickup. When my dress arrived at the salon (2 whole months early, I might add!! and we're even in the middle of the pandemic right now!), I was given two options- touchless pickup, or have the dress shipped to me for a fee. I didn't want to wait, so I chose the pickup option. I was told to come in on a certain day around a certain time, and that they would see me soon. When I arrived at the salon, I saw a dress in a bag hanging on the side of the building facing the parking lot, but I assumed there was a backyard wedding or something and that it was someone else's. I wasn't entirely sure what to do, because I wasn't told how the touchless pickup would work, but because they had texted me "see you soon", I figured I should go inside. Once someone opened the door, they asked me if I had called, which I had not, and she told me to sit down. Then another lady came to the door and said my dress was hanging outside for touchless pickup. My first thought was absolute horror and panic- what if someone had stolen my dress? It was in plain sight, there was no one around keeping an eye on it. This is a four thousand dollar dress. Once I got to the bag and unzipped it, I was relieved to see the dress was in there, not stolen. Then I thought- what if a bird pooped on it? What if it was rained on? I was absolutely full of anxiety. I really don't know how long my dress was hanging outside- it was there before I arrived, and I arrived about 10 minutes late because I was driving from Massachusetts. The dress is fine, I took it home and it is safe and sound in pristine condition, but I definitely would recommend slightly changing the touchless pickup so that the dresses are always cared for and being protected. I would recommend having brides call when they arrive, and then someone bringing the dress out and hanging it, and then the bride can go and grab it immediately. That way, the dress is always being watched over by someone, no possibility of anything bad happening, and it is still touchless and contactless! I do want to say that I have a feeling that my experience during the pickup was a one-off, for the record. The one lady asked if I had called, and she seemed to expect that I would have called. I think maybe somebody forgot to tell me how touchless pickup was going to work? Which is understandable- it is a very busy time of the year and this is unprecedented times. That doesn't exactly explain why my dress was hanging outside before I arrived, but thankfully nothing bad happened. All in all, I think this is a small mistake that is easily remedied, and I would definitely still recommend TWD for purchasing your wedding dress!
