  • My husband and I decided on a small wedding so after looking over the venue options in the hotel we decided to use the presidential suite for our ceremony and cocktail hour. The suite is amazing! 1800 Square feet plus an 800 square-foot balcony. Two-story living room, dining room, billiards room, amazing bedroom and bathrooms and full kitchen was perfect for us. Linda the general manager for the hotel was great. After the ceremony and cocktail hour we we had everyone for dinner at Old Maryland Grill in the Belvedere room. The food was amazing and was the perfect intimate setting for our smaller wedding. At Old Maryland Grill everyone was great, from Dru the private party manager, and mangers Brian and Venus to the General manager Steve, and our server Amanda! We can not thank them enough! It was a perfect evening and also was a great place for the breakfast the day after for our guests and family also staying in the Hotel at University of Maryland!

  • My son was just married on June 15, 2019 and we used The Hotel a the University of Maryland to hold the reception and to reserve for guests staying overnight. The hotel is just about 3 years old and is beautiful, also conveniently located. The rooms are large and comfortable with state of the art technology. Cedric Frazier was in charge of our event and we could not have been in better hands. He was patient and generous and has an incredible background in the hospitality/catering field. He was thoughtful and respectful about our needs while also contributing his creativity throughout the process. The staff throughout the hotel was pleasant and everyone was helpful. Having hosted numerous events this size, my daughter's wedding 2 years ago being the most recent, I can honestly say that the pricing is fair and the food was excellent. Our guests were quite complimentary about the event and their stay. Do not overlook this venue and definitely seek Cedric out. You will not be sorry.

  • Our wedding was on June 29, 2019. What can I say, THANK YOU CEDRIC - SIMPLY AMAZING!! Our family and friends are still calling and texting us, when we did our first look at the reception spot (Crossland Ballroom) we were lost for words, just so elegant and romantic. Your referral for the florists, was on point as well. The banquet staff, forgive I cannot remember everyone's names - but just awesome, everyone had smiles on their faces and you could tell that they liked their jobs. All of our feedback was they have been to a lot of weddings and various venues, but the food was excellent, it was piping hot. But I know what it is, their secret weapon "CEDRIC", we knew from the moment that we met him that we were going to be okay.   • We had our wedding at The Hotel UMD on 6/1/19. Our event was in the penthouse ballroom and our guests loved the ability to move between the ballroom and the terrace throughout the night. When we first booked our wedding we were working with Sheila. After about a year Sheila left The Hotel and we were paired with Cedric. We were so happy that Cedric inherited our wedding! He had all of our prior communication with Sheila and ensured anything we agreed on before was seen through. I'm also very Type A and pay a lot of attention to details and Cedric was very patient with all my questions/inquiries. Cedric made sure to keep in touch with us throughout the whole process and even gave us his cell phone number for the whole wedding weekend in case we had any questions!   • I don't have the words to explain how amazing this venue was. The hotel itself and especially the people, specifically CEDRIC, were absolutely incredible! Everyone was so helpful and patient with us and made our wedding a dream come true. They were accommodating and understanding and SO pleasant. As stressful as planning this wedding was for me, they always put me at ease and assured me that at the end of the day, my wedding would be everything I had hoped and they delivered! During and even until now, people keep commenting on how beautiful the hotel was and how great the food tasted and the quality of the service. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience and am so extremely grateful for everyone at The Hotel.

  • We just had our wedding here on March 23rd. Cedric was great to work with! He worked with us throughout the whole process and was flexible and accommodating to our vision and needs. He listened to us and was there every step of the way. The whole hotel staff was very nice and worked hard to make this beautiful event happen. They have multiple ballrooms here so they can pretty much fit any number of people for weddings or other events. They also have a nice penthouse where we held our ceremony with a beautiful terrace area overlooking college park campus. I would highly recommend this venue!

  • We got married at Memorial Chapel on UMD's campus (both UMD alumni) and wanted a reception venue that was conveniently located from the ceremony. The Hotel stood out compared to other College Park, MD options. Overall, the space is beautiful - our guests were so impressed with the venue spaces (cocktail hour, reception, after party) and the hotel rooms. Throughout our planning process, we struggled with inconsistent information and a lack of responsiveness from the sales reps. However, the day of the wedding went extremely smoothly (other than the parking validations. Barely any of the stickers worked and our guests were asked to pay $24 each to get out of the parking garage) and we had a wonderful time. Our recommendation is to stay on top of your Hotel reps throughout the process and keep a record of every detail, and you will end up very happy with your wedding day!
