  • The Dorian String Quartet is simply amazing! Alexis was wonderful to work with. She was incredibly responsive and patient with our requests and she really knew how to help guide us towards what we wanted. We knew we wanted more modern music played during our ceremony and cocktail hour and they definitely delivered! Including two songs that they learned at our request! They really helped to make our day special and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone considering a string quartet. I even had a few of my guy friends mention to me how great they were and that they recognized the songs they were playing! You won't be disappointed if you have them at your wedding!

  • Alexis from Dorian was very easy to work with, organized, and provided a huge list of songs to choose from. She set the mood of our Onteora Mountain House wedding to sophisticated and magical. My vision for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and the specific details I requested were all carried out meticulously. For example, I wanted to walk down the mountain steps to one song, and have another song start playing for my dad and I to walk down the aisle to. Also affordably priced. If you want a string quartet to add sophisticated elegance to your wedding, you’ve found them!

  • It was a pleasure coordinating and working with the team and musicians at Dorian! They were such a special added bonus to the Ceremony and Cocktail Hour. The list of songs they had available to play for our wedding had so many options that it made it easy for us to have a vast amount of songs played. They were all very professional and lovely to have around!

  • The perfect addition to our ceremony. They sounded amazing, played exactly what we asked, and were super responsive every step of the way (thank you Alexis!). I didn't even get the chance to meet the lovely musicians in the morning craziness of my wedding but I'm forever grateful to them for making everything so spectacularly perfect!!

  • We had a trio of musicians from the Dorian String Quartet play music for our wedding ceremony. They had a large selection of both contemporary and classical songs for us to choose from for the processional and recessional, which allowed us to customize our ceremony exactly how we liked it. We also asked them in advance to arrange my favorite song to play as I walked down the aisle. I was blown away by the amazing job that they did and could have not asked for a more beautiful or unique way to walk down the aisle. We received many compliments from our guests on the gorgeous music during the ceremony. It really made the ceremony feel magical! As a plus, Alexis is very organized, responsive and easy to reach via email, which made the planning process very smooth. I would absolutely recommend the Dorian String Quartet to anyone who wants contemporary or classical string music for their wedding!

  • I used the Dorian String Quartet for my ceremony and cocktail hour earlier this month. We were indecisive if we wanted live music or a DJ at our wedding, so the compromise was the quartet, and then a DJ for the reception. Dorian String Quartet did a great job! They arrived promptly and began setting up without needing to ask myself or my bridal party for any assistance. I had requested a few special songs to be played (which they had no problem accommodating) and they did a perfect job with all of them. The transition from ceremony to cocktail hour was seamless and hearing the quartet in the background was beautiful. I had several guests ask me if they were staying the entire night and, if not, the DJ was going to have a lot to live up to! I would recommend Dorian String Quartet to any bride!

  • From beginning to end, working with Alexis was easy. She was always very responsive in answering my emails and getting back to me which is reassuring when you’re doing a million other things. Having string music at the wedding for the ceremony and cocktail hour added a very nice touch. Out of all the vendors I worked with, this was probably the easiest. I definitely recommend using them.

  • We LOVED this quartet!! They were very talented and so professional. They were very easy to work with and accommodating to any of our requests. They arrived early and were very self-sufficient-a GREAT quality on this busy day! I have known many of the players from other music functions and we were so happy with their work on our special day.

  • In a word, outstanding. Alexis worked with us to come up with a song list for our Church Mass wedding. The Dorian played beautifully for 20 minute before the start of the wedding – and transitioned seamlessly into playing three different pieces: for the seating of the mothers, the processions of the bridesmaids, and the procession of the bride. They accompanied the bride’s friend, who sang Ave Maria (they graciously agreed to a quick practice with her, 45 minutes prior to the event), and played during the lighting of the unity candle. From the prelude to the recessional, the Dorian were so completely musically adept – and added beautifully to our wedding.

  • The Dorian String Quartet was amazing!! Although I didn't get to hear most of the music (the bride doesn't have a ton of time to linger during the ceremony and cocktail hour), I heard raving reviews from all my guests! Someone even pulled me aside to tell me that my quartet was amazing, and they wanted to know how I found a group that would play Coldplay on their string instruments. I knew that I wanted to walk down the aisle to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perry. Alexis told me that it would be no problem at all and it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much!! You were all amazing and I can't wait to work with you again!! xoxo

  • Being Star Wars fans, one of our top priorities was finding a quartet that could play the main theme song - not only could Dorian String Quartet play it - our guests were in AWE! They were amazing. If you are thinking about getting a quartet, just do it! Especially if you are having an outdoor ceremony. Our guests absolutely loved it. The members of Dorian String Quartet were particularly talented, playing both modern and classical music. Alexis at Dorian String Quartet was wonderful to work with and very responsive. Thank you for being a part of our special day!

  • We hired the quarter for our outdoor wedding and our cocktail hours. They have a listing of, and play a mix of classical wedding/ceremony music and modern music. Alexis was helpful the entire way. Any time I had a question I could email her and she would get right back to me. We asked them to learn two songs (for a fee) and they nailed them...."Yellow" by Coldplay and "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. I (the Groom) almost completely lost it 4 seconds into Yellow when they started playing (bridesmaids entrance). It was really well done. They also played our cocktail hour (also outside) and were wonderful. All in all a wonderful quartet who played beautiful music and were nothing but helpful along the way.

  • Their music and talent is unmatched. I highly recommend however, if you hire that you suggest they attend the rehearsal. At our ceremony after the last bridesmaid made the altar, the music never cued. The bride waited behind the wood door and as she approached the aisle the music didn't change. The quartet should've been waiting and been more alert about what was going on. The music should've changed immediately once the procession of bridesmaids was over. The bride walked out to the wrong music and the quartet realized halfway as she was down the aisle. The music stopped, dead air, then they played the correct song for the bride. Additionally, there was some obvious confusion throughout the ceremony. A lot of hesitation and uncertainty. For the money paid, the music was beautiful and they sure were skilled, however, these mistakes were very noticeable to our guests unfortunately. It is every bride's dream to walk down with her father to a certain song. So sadly this moment in time was... Read more

We are always honored to take part in a wedding ceremony, and take pride in the amount of preparation that goes into each unique event. Unfortunately, in this case the bride has given us responsibility for issues that were completely outside of our control, as musicians and guests in a church. When I arrived, I spoke to the priest several times. He said they would close the double wooden doors before the bride entered. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and they were opened early or never closed. So we found a suitable place to end the bridesmaid processional, and began her processional as quickly as possible.

As for any pauses during the ceremony, her priest unfortunately got lost several times and stumbled through a good part of the ceremony. Another wedding was scheduled immediately before this ceremony, and the priest was understandably very rushed and a bit overwhelmed. (Our trio, another separate group of musicians, performed that ceremony which ended just 20 minutes prior). We are always reliant on an officiant for the flow of a service, and especially in a Catholic mass we can not just start playing an "Alleluia" or "Ave Maria" without a cue or remission from the priest. We were thrilled when the bride told us the music was "perfect" and we were "amazing" and her guests complimented us at the ceremony and cocktail hour. We were fully prepared, and very alert throughout, and I personally worked with the bride for over a year in planning the ceremony. We always want our brides to be satisfied, but can only do our very best especially when it comes to when the doors open, the cues of an officiant, or the workings of an individual venue.
