  • Our cake was delicious, spectacular, and delivered on time. Sugar land was able to work with our dietary restrictions and made the top tier gluten/soy free. Guests could barely tell the difference in flavor, as both were good. The tasting and design planning meetings were very useful and Josh was great at forming our ideas into something tangible. On a side note, gluten free cakes aren't available on the official tasting, however, we were able to try out the gluten free cupcakes in store (flavors change daily) up until our final planning meeting.

  • This place was absolutely amazing! The cake is like none other! All of my wedding guests are still raving about it. It was just a little pricey, but still very competitive with others.

  • We worked with Joshua to design our cake for our tented wedding. He was responsive and very easy to work with. We chose the mimosa flavor and a simple buttercream design with flowers from our florist. Our cake was so delicious, and all of our guests could not stop raving about it!! We were very happy with everything!

  • We were hunting for a gluten-free cake, and Sugarland in Raleigh had a great reputation among our friends. They arranged for a private gluten-free cake tasting with vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and all of their fillings and icings, and that might have been my favorite part of wedding planning! I made a cake tower to try it all together. :-D Surprisingly, my husband and I were able to agree on a flavor easily (he usually doesn't like gluten-free cake, but he was in love with the chocolate!), and the coordinator we worked with helped us choose a simple, rustic style for our private ceremony. I know the cake was delicious because my husband ate almost all the leftovers, and he doesn't even usually like cake!! We also appreciate that the cake was delivered on time to the bridal suite at The Umstead for us without us having to chase it down. And we also appreciate that they treated us just as kindly as they would have a person ordering a much larger cake (we ordered the smallest they ... Read more

  • Our cake was AMAZING! Our friends had had sugarland do their wedding cake so we knew that we were getting some quality cake, I even used one of their flavors I liked it so much! At our wedding it was just as good! We did the mimosa flavor and the creme brulee flavor, both were EXCELLENT. The cake stand that they delivered on the day was not the one we had discussed but it was actually better than the one we discussed so it was fine by me! They were on time, professional, the cake looked great and tasted better. The place is pricey but worth it! You will not be disappointed!

  • Katrina is absolutely amazing! We had grand ideas for personalizing our cake, and we were worried that it would be difficult to pull off. However, the first time we sat down with Katrina and told her our ideas, she basically sketched out something we really liked in front of our eyes. We were so impressed! She has so much experience with cake design, and her love of creating cakes and attention to detail clearly came through. Our final cake was probably one of the most popular, adorable, and personal elements in our wedding! It was also crazy delicious (she even suggested flavors based on our guest demographic) and we gobbled up every last bit of the leftovers after the wedding! A consultation/tasting with Katrina is an absolute must in the search for your perfect wedding cake!

  • Katrina and her team were absolutely amazing. They are so knowledgeable, and their cakes are to die for! I got married at the Carolina Inn, and Katrina offered me the promotional discount that they offer at the Carolina Inn bridal show, since my wedding was too close to wait until the show to book. That really stood out to me. She also wrapped up cupcakes in flavors that I liked for me to take home to my fiance since he couldn't be at our initial cake tasting. We got so many compliments on how amazing our cake was and how beautiful it was. We had two huge pieces waiting in our room after our wedding, and we absolutely devoured them. They were also very flexible and easy to work with as far as payments, meetings, etc. I am so happy that I chose Sugarland for our wedding cake!

  • 1st STRIKE: Nov ‘15, I made 3 phone calls that went straight to voice mail. I left a message each time. It’s the middle of ‘16 & I still haven’t received any call back. I get it - you were on the Food Network once. I’ve been on national TV too. No one cares. You’re not that busy. Pick up the phone. 2nd STRIKE: In April ‘16, someone picked up when I called. I was not paired up with any baker, instead a nice young girl who was not a baker. The girl, while sweet, was not able to tell me any of Sugarland’s policies. I had to inquire about EVERYTHING: cake stands (free/fee/threshold price), traveling costs to/from, pricing of different flavors, threshold pricing for free anniversary cake, the list goes on & on & on. She was a nice young girl but employee training is lacking. I’m not going to drop $600+ if I don’t know all the hidden fees that you keep not telling me (purposefully or unintentionally?). LAST STRIKE: I wanted a “naked cake” for my wedding. It’s a... Read more

  • Where do I start. Well, I originally called Sugarland in Raleigh on 5/14. I was told that someone would get back with me but, that I might also want to send an email through their website for the cake coordinator. I received an email on 5/18 stating that they only offered cake tasting twice a month. The next one would be on 6/19, which is Father's day. I immediately called the bakery to verify that she did intend to say that Father's day was the next available tasting. After some discussion and prodding, the young lady indicated that they did offer private appointments. So, I asked to set up a private cake tasting. No problem, but the next available date would be during the first week of June. A gain, no problem. Well, exactly one week later on 5/25, I received a email asking me if our appointment was for 5/26 or was it 6/2? I politely called the bakery to speak with the young lady and she was again gone for the day. And, I was told to email her. So, after a couple mo... Read more

  • We loved Sugarland when we were in college, so that was the only cake vendor we even considered. Josh helped us with our tasting, and our cake tasted great and was just beautiful. Worth every penny.

  • My wedding isn't until April 16, 2016, however so far the folks at Sugarland have been awesome. Very responsive to emails, was willing to accommodate my design, and at my tasting they were friendly with very good tasting cake. I will be serving the vanilla bean flavor and strawberry flavor. They were delicious at the tasting. I look forward to seeing (and eating) the finished product on my special day!

  • For the most part the planning process with Sugarland was great. We originally wanted to do just a small cake to cut, and then an assortment of pie for our guests. I thought there would be a wedding package or something for a dessert scheme like this, but the pies were priced individually and ended up being more than a traditional wedding cake would be. So we decided to go with just a three tier cake, and they kindly agreed to create a "naked" cake for us, which they don't normally do. It turned out beautiful and delicious! The lower rating for quality of service was due to events that unfolded the day of the wedding. Our cake was supposed to be delivered 2 hours before our ceremony started, which should have been by 2pm. The 2 hour window would allow my coordinator to decorate the cake so it would be ready to go once the cocktail hour started. Our cake wasn't delivered until 3:55, 5 minutes before our ceremony was supposed to start!! Because of this our ceremony was delayed... Read more
