  • This is a very interesting venue and has so many amazing aspects to it. Very friendly service. Very unique venue with so many opportunities and potential. However the venue is new and needs lots of TLC. Land needs leveled and treated. And the reception room could use updates along with the pavilion. Hopefully they will build a proper ceremony site. Highly recommend for smaller, more intimate weddings and i recommend checking this venue out if you're near the area. So unique with so much potential.

  • This will be lengthy. But if you’re considering this venue please read it. We went to look at Sugar Lake and it was gorgeous. We loved that it was different, rustic with modern touches, and on a beautiful property. We booked with them with a 50% deposit. We signed a contract. About a month after that we needed to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances with one of our parents and our date. When we went to reschedule, Steve charged us a 250 fee. Not thrilled by it, but ok. We paid it and moved on. Then Covid hit. And in March we went into quarantine. Our wedding was in May. We called Steve to express our concerns and he advised us to wait it out. We didn’t want to do that because at the time no one knew anything about this virus and what was going to happen. We asked to reschedule as one does when there’s a pandemic. At that time he informed us there would now be a 1000 charge to reschedule. We were in shock. We inquired about why the price was 250 and he advised us... Read more

One thing remains a constant in this ever-changing event and wedding industry. There will always be one or two parties a year that will write a less than kind and less then accurate review. Let me start with the obvious. It’s ridiculous that we have to respond to re-review that is so full of misinformation, especially with all we did to accommodate, and particularly after 3 1/2 months after they canceled their third date they had and postponed with us, and after having previously posted a very positive review, and expressing gratitude to us for allowing them to cancel their last date without a win the $3300 balance that was legally and morally due and owing. Next, the facts… We do not change policies on a whim, but only when good business practices dictate, and we changed our postponement policy before Covid restrictions were put in place and they knew that. We would never take advantage of anyone regardless of circumstances We lost potential wedding bookings and income on all three dates they had reserved.! The rest is baseless sour grapes, or should I say rotten grapes, as they canceled and we concluded our agreement by mutual satisfaction months ago. As always we stand by our policies, service, and integrity

  • Had my wedding at Sugar Lake Lodge and am so happy I chose this venue. The place is absolutely breathtaking! They have a beautiful lake on the premises along with a really cool rustic lodge. My day ran perfectly and the owners and staff were very nice to work with. All of my guests enjoyed themselves, and overall our experience was 10/10!! I would highly recommend! The place is beautiful and there is a lot of potential!

  • I fell in love with this place as soon as I drove down the lane. The lake is absolutely gorgeous and the Lodge available has a rustic and industrial feel at the same time. It’s really a beautiful venue. I had my engagement party here on August 25, 2018 after I had booked my wedding for 2019. I loved it so much I wanted to have the engagement party there as well. They have two on-site venues and I will be renting out both for my wedding day because they give a great deal if you rent both at the same time. The owners are great to work with so far. I always get a fairly quick response. One of the things that really drew me in was the fact that I could bring in all my own stuff and do exactly what I envisioned. Unfortunately we were so caught up having fun I only got a couple pics with my sister and a shot of the lake. I will be posting another review after my wedding date, but so far I highly recommend this vendor!

  • I can't say enough good things about my experience at Sugar Lake Lodge. It really couldn't have been better. The owners of the venue, Steve and Marcia, were wonderful to work with. The property and scenery are unmatched. It was secluded enough to be private, but not so secluded that you felt like you were in the sticks. The aesthetics were modern but rustic. Everything was organized and relaxed. I highly, highly recommend Sugar Lake Lodge to anyone who wants their wedding or event to look like it should be on The Best of Pinterest. Thank you so much to Steve and Marcia! You are great people with a beautiful venue.

  • Let me start by saying the venue itself was perfect for our wedding. The theme and feel of an old lodge were exactly what we wanted. Having met at a camp when we were younger it brought back memories of camp, and the relationships you build as a kid going to summer camp. Having said that, the owner was not who we would have wanted to deal with. On our initial visit, things went well and the venue itself was lovely and what we were looking for. However, we started running into problems when signing the contract. When we signed the contract there was a not previously mentioned provision with the numbers of guests. Never mentioned that for a package and space offered for 100-200 people that there would be a charge of $30.00 per person over 133. Being told about this while signing the contract after already decided on the venue and told other venues that we wouldn’t be using them was a shock. The package we chose with some modification was to include the honeymoon suite and we... Read more

Hi, Matthew! We are happy you found the venue itself just perfect for your wedding and that the day went well. All of the guests that engaged me in conversation agreed and had great comments and reviews of Sugar Lake Lodge, so I am sorry you were disappointed in a few things. I wanted to shed some more light on those items. - Pricing information was given to you in person on the initial visit as well as available online, and we reviewed it all before the contract was signed. - Wedding insurance must be obtained by the wedding party and not Sugar Lake Lodge. This is a recent change in policy on the insurance company’s side. I know we spoke about this, but I am sorry if you misunderstood. According to our policy, we subtracted the cost of the insurance from the charges. - The honeymoon suite unavailability was due to two factors. First, it was booked for two nights and then canceled one night a few weeks prior to the event because someone purchased a nights stay in New York for you instead. Unfortunately, circumstances came up that made the suite unavailable for the other night, so we offered to book other very nice accommodations elsewhere and even Chauffeur you to it in a Rolls Royce. You declined that offer, so we made other arrangements and kept them on hold, again which you declined. - I am sorry you found my attire for the evening not up to par. I was dressed in casual dress shoes, khaki shorts, and our engraved Sugar Lake dress buttoned down shirt. When we reviewed every detail that day before the event I would have been more than happy to change if you would have mentioned to me that you found my outfit unsuitable. At the end of the day, I find a two star rating to be surprising based on the overall value, experience, condition and service provided. We always strive to be professional, courteous and accommodating. We are available to discuss this further if you have more questions at 330-639-5113. We wish you both all the best in life!
