  • When we first found Ken online, we were blown away by his professionalism and his personality. We enjoyed talking with Ken and he asked so many good and creative questions to get to know us. Ken crushed it at our rehearsal practice. The ceremony day, he was just phenomenal!!!! We got so many compliments from our guests, that he is the best out there. My maid of honors mom even said she wanted him as her daughters officiant. People told us we must have known him for a long time, but we told people no we didn’t, he is just that good. It really was like he got us and the ceremony felt so perfect, sentimental but with some laughter too. It was perfect!!!! Ken put so much thought into our ceremony. We love Ken and so did all our guests! Ken is a slam dunk, highly recommend you book him.

  • Ken was an amazing officiant. My husband and I are not religious and he did a great job of having a ceremony filled with substance, without the religious aspect. He involved our family and our guests in a way that I have not seen before at a wedding. Ken was enthusiastic and created such a fun environment. We only met Ken once before the wedding, but you would have thought he has known us for years! We also attended his Marriage Toolkit Workshop, which was a fun evening. I would highly recommend Ken!

  • We met with Ken about 2 months before our wedding to go over important details, options for the ceremony, and more. He also offers a marriage workshop, but we weren’t able to attend before the wedding due to my now husband being deployed. We spoke with Ken on the phone about a week before the wedding. His wife came to the rehearsal and knew everything we needed to know. At first, we were skeptical that Ken wasn’t there for the rehearsal, but his wife reassured us that they work together as a team and she knows how he does his ceremonies. Day of wedding came and Ken couldn’t have done better! I’m still hearing comments from family and friends days after the wedding. First he met with my husband, answered any questions he had. Then he came in to my room with the girls and made us laugh and got us excited with his humor and confidence! He calmed any nerves I may have had. For the ceremony, he got everyone involved, made everyone laugh, made my husband and I feel like the only peop... Read more

  • Oh my gosh Ken is the best! He was recommended to me by my planner, and after reading his reviews I reached out and luckily he was free for my ceremony! Ken managed to give me a ceremony that was tender and touching but also fun and peppy, and my guests absolutely loved him! So many asked how we had met him because they were blown away by his speech. Absolutely would recommend him if you are looking for an officiant.

  • Ken was absolutely perfect for our wedding. He was a pleasure to work with. He setup an appointment to get to know us personally and led us through a marriage workshop where we got to meet other couples and learn about each other more. Ken is personable, professional but also funny and will make sure your ceremony is fun and not boring. thank you Ken.

  • My wife and I were visiting my uncle in Virginia Beach for our 7th anniversary and decided to renew our vows on July 7th, with little notice Rev. Lane was able to officiate the ceremony in a way that was personal, and touching and really make our little day into something truly special. Thank you so much Rev. Lane you were amazing.

  • Rev Ken MADE our wedding ceremony incredibly special, unforgettable, and full of all the things that mattered most to us. When we first met with Ken, we told him that we were not overly religious and wanted our ceremony to be very romantic and about our story of love and how important family was to us. Ken delivered all that and more! Our guests said that they couldn't remember a wedding where they actually remembered anything about the ceremony and weren't bored by the usual stuff... until ours! Ken was energetic, involved and made our parents a huge part of the ceremony, engaged our guests, and set the tone for our entire wedding- lots of love and lots of happiness! Our guests said, they were so energized by his words about us and couldn't wait to get to cocktail hour to celebrate and get the reception started! We could not recommend Rev Ken more highly. Thank you for making our ceremony absolutely perfect!

  • I can’t say enough good things about Ken Lane. From the time we met him to the day we got married, it was an easy experience!! He got to know us and our wants/choices regarding our ceremony! He felt led to honor my husband’s deceased mother at our ceremony with a wonderful tribute that I hadn’t planned! Every one of our guests wondered how long we had know Ken because it seemed as if he knew us forever! I would not have had any other person officiate our wedding!!! Thanks for everything!!

  • After reaching out to several officiants, Reverend Ken Lane was the first to get back to me. He was ver flexible with his schedule to accommodate our needs. He even took the time to get to know us and incorporated it into the ceremony. We couldn’t have asked for a better ceremony.

  • Hello WeddingWire community! This is my 2nd review so far in the midst of our 10 month wedding planning process and I wanted to offer a slightly different POV than what is currently posted for this vendor. Ken Lane came highly recommended via online reviews here but also via in person recommendations. That said my fiance and were very excited to have the opportunity to get to know and also work with him. We had 2 phone calls and a handful of email exchanges prior to committing to Ken’s services and organizing our first in person meet and greet. Sounds great right?? Now, my fiance and I recognize that everyone can have "off" days however the limited professionalism and awkward circumstances in which our first and only in person meeting took place seemed to demonstrate more than just Ken being "off" his game. Upon arrival at our meeting, we were faced with an unidentified purse followed by an unidentified person that was present without introduction or recognition AT ANY POINT during t... Read more

If this wasn't so very strange it would almost be humorous. I was once told that in this modern era, no matter what business you're in or how well you treat people, someone is eventually going to leave a bad/misleading review. I've never had to respond to a bad review before so please forgive me if it comes across as anything other than trying to set the record straight. I guess we'll start with the oddest thing first - who on Earth leaves a scathing review after a first-time initial consult? I mean, if you meet somebody and it's not a good fit then why don't you just move on? And how did Mrs. Richeson judge me as being "off" on that day? If you've only met someone one time for just several minutes how are you supposed to be able to know if that person is "off" that day as compared to any other day? Second, cuz I'm taking detailed notes with all of my couples one of the very first things that I write down is the date, time, and location there wedding. While I never asked the date several times during any of my consults, I freely admit that I may triple check throughout our conversation on several key areas just to make absolutely sure that we are all on the same page. It has been more than once that a couple has filled out a contract, we all sat down and had a great consult together, then several months later some key details were changed (like the time, date, and location!) and I wasn't told until shortly before the wedding. While that has been extremely rare, that is the very reason why we have our sit down together so that we can all be certain of key direction. Really unsure of the motive as to why Miss Richeson is attempting to make me look unorganized or forgetful? Next, my wife rarely has the opportunity to sit down and have coffee at any of my consults. You see, she's extremely busy in the wedding industry and has been doing this longer than I have. She has a very unique an experienced female perspective on weddings and planning that I sometimes may not get. When she does have the occasional opportunity to drop in, couples almost without exception are thrilled at her insight and knowledge of most all the vendors in the Tidewater area. While I cannot specifically say with certainty that introductions were as proper as Miss Richeson apparently expected, I definitely do remember us relating stories not only of our wedding, but of our five children and 27 year marriage. If, again, I failed to introduce her according to proper rules of etiquette then I am genuinely embarrassed. It is always my great privilege to introduce my better half especially to people who benefit from her many years experience in the wedding industry. And finally, the last part of Miss Richeson's review is what truly had me curious about the motive of the entire thing. It's so laughable that I will just make this very simple - in all the hundreds of weddings that I have ever done, there has never been a single instance where I have ever forgotten someone's name or used the wrong name. Ever. There have been many times where I have officiated four or even five weddings in a single day and there is no one that can show proof that I have ever gotten someone's name wrong, forgotten it, or even mispronounced it. Has Mrs. Richeson simply said that we met and she didn't like me or that I was absent minded or whatever else unfavourable opinion she had of me I would never have replied. I would have chalked it up to "well no one is a perfect fit for everyone". However, her last accusation that I have embarrassed myself, my profession, and ruined people's most important day by forgetting their names is easily provably false, slanderous and, for whatever strange reason, done so with a malice that I am genuinely perplexed by. I hereby openly challenge Mrs. Richeson to either produce said "good authority" that she supposedly got such an accusation from or to admit that she simply made it up. I strongly dispute the negative light that Mrs. Richeson has chosen to put me in and absolutely deny any of the so-called facts that she has shared in this review. All of the hundreds of reviews that I have on multiple platforms across the internet make this one seem particularly suspicious. As I have stated, I just don't understand for the life of me the motive behind it.
