  • I had my DREAM wedding 9-14-19. Joel and his highly talented team were amazing from the day we walked in even before booking. They treated us like family and never made you feel like they had a bunch of other brides planning a wedding there that season they were helping. Joel was always available to talk to or meet. The staff was highly professional and the kindest people. I have absolutely not ONE complaint I honestly got more than I even asked for. Joel and his team helped me have a wedding that was elegant, fun and affordable! A day I will never forget and that guests are still talking about almost 6 months later. We ❤️ You Shout out to the great staff: Timmy, Shannon, Taylor, Shaun, Katherine, Tracy, Stacy, Kim, Robert. Stephanie and everyone else that helped us!

  • We attend a several weddings here and enjoyed the whole experience. From the wedding itself to the wonderful food and staff. Everything looked so beautiful. I would recommend ths venue to anyone looking for a place to get married. I am not getting married but would not let me put this past year in.

  • I was recently married at the Preston Woodall House and I had an absolutely amazing, out of this world, experience. Chef Jon prepared delectable food, the staff displayed astounding service, and Kaitlyn and Joel (while maintaining total professionalism) made the entire planning process so fun, enjoyable, and relaxed. I cannot sing all of their praises enough. We also loved all of the accommodations that are offered, as it made it very easy and convenient to have everyone right there together, and the breakfast that followed each morning. Should I need a venue for any event in the future, I will undoubtedly make a beeline straight back to the Preston Woodall House! Highly recommend! ETA: Although my "getting married on date" is set for 2020, I have repeatedly tried to put the date as 11/16/2019 and it won't change. However, we have been happily married for 33 days. :)

  • Where do I even begin? From the moment we walked into the venue we just knew it was the place for us. Joel and staff do an AMAZING job and go above and beyond to make the day perfect. From the venue itself, to the catering, to everyone who works there, we were blown away. They made the day so stress free, and all of our guests couldn't stop talking about everything. It truly is a magical place, with magical people. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

  • I was a bridesmaid at a recent wedding at The Preston Woodall House. The staff, the house, the accommodations and everything that was offered to us, was incredible. The food was top notch, the house was pristine, and everything was perfect for my friend's wedding. Joel Hurley has an amazing team as well as himself. Will definitely be booking my wedding there in the future.

  • Let me sing praises for Joel, the owner, his incredibly talented vendors and his outstanding staff! What a fabulous venue tucked away in historic downtown Benson! My daughter got married here in September 2019. We purchased a weekend package. A destination wedding in our own backyard! The wedding party and family stayed on site. So we really got to celebrate the impending nuptials! We spent a year and half planning this wedding. We have very high standards and details are extremely important! Let me say that Joel and his staff treated us like royalty for the entire weekend and made sure our daughter and son-in-law's wedding was perfect and exceeded our expectations! Nothing was ever too much for ask for, and questions were always answered super fast. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, or a better venue. PWH was the first venue that we viewed, and we left with such excitement knowing that it was the venue that we wanted to get married at; It really did exceed all exceptions of how the venue looked on the day, and how the day came together.   • We had our wedding at Preston Woodall House and rented the place out for the weekend. Everyone there was so kind and professional. They really helped make our day special! They went above and beyond with helping us plan our big day! They were so personable and easy to work with! Also, the food really is as good as everyone says it is!!! We chose most of our vendors from their recommended list too and couldn't have been happier with them! Such a unique and beautiful venue, too!

  • I cannot say how grateful I am to Joel and his staff for the warmth and attention they provided not only to our wedding party and I but also to our guest. We chose to do in-house catering and they exceeded our expectations. Our guest and us cannot stop talking about how delicious the food was. The organization is unmatched! When I say they put in work I mean they really put in work! The staff made sure the entire day went by seamlessly. The best decision I made after marrying my husband was to have our wedding at the Preston Woodall House!

  • My fiancé and I are getting married in November of 2017 and we honestly can't be happier with our choice. Joel, the owner, honestly sold us on himself (the venue is beautiful enough to speak for itself!!) the first time we met him. Joel and his team (especially Nick & DJ) treat each couple and family like they are the only people that they are working with. They cater so well to everyone's individual wants and needs and will go out of their way to ensure that you vision comes true. I could honestly go on and on but you really won't be able to understand how amazing this venue and staff are until you get to personally work with them. You will not be sorry.

  • The 1st word that comes to mind when I think or speak of this wonderful like piece of heaven on Earth is unbelievable. I had the pleasure to stand as Maid of Honor as my brother married his beautiful new wife. I have to say the amount of time, care, energy, and passion that came from the management and staff was just unparalleled. There was no need unattended or even unanticipated. Chef DJ made a phenomenal meal fit for royalty, and Nick gave my brother and sister in law a ceremony totally flawless. The staff was the best I have ever seen and I can't imagine a single detail that was missed or would need to be changed. I would recommend this beautiful place to anyone from now til the end of time. Just totally 1st class and 5 stars across the board!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In case yall haven't heard yet but thus venue went bankrupt displacing almost 30 wedding and took money from all of us, some ladies paid over 10k and.the owners have not issued any refunds, but opened up a new business in August.

    Hi Chini, This is only partially correct. We did close, and are in the process of filing for bankruptcy. No refunds have been issued at this time, but we are working within the court system to get everyone refunded as quickly as possible. We purchased an already-struggling business immediately before a worldwide pandemic. Unfortunately, we just weren't able to keep our doors open. We care about our couples, and are making ourselves 100% available to you for any questions or concerns. Despite what you have been sharing online, we have done nothing fraudulent or illegal, and our accounting will be transparent throughout the proceedings. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about our other ventures, that are in no way connected to Preston Woodall House. **We are currently in the process of having this listing removed, so other brides know we are no longer open**

  • To start, I want to say that when you book a wedding with the Preston Woodall House, they provide the vendors. You pay them, and they pay the outside vendors and book them for you. They are there to make your life easier and plan the bulk of your wedding for you, while you worry about the little details. The Preston Woodall House also is a bed and breakfast style venue that has rooms in the main house, and three fully furnished cottages. It is perfect for out of town family or for your wedding party to stay on site (You're basically going to be there all weekend anyway!) My now husband and I thought it was PERFECT when we toured for the first time. I just want to say that this is my fourth time rewriting this review.     Jessica - Thank you for your review and I must say it was a pleasure working with you during the planning process. As still in a major role at the Preston Woodall House, I feel that I should address a few things that you wrote. First and foremost, it was a pleasure meeting your friends and family on your wedding weekend. I had the opportunity to talk with your mom on a few occasions and she was delightful. In addition, you were a beautiful bride and your many pictures on social media are fabulous... it really shows what an amazing day you appeared to have had. You were always respectful and Johnny was a class act as well. Addressing a few issues that you discussed... You had my cell phone, email address and work number. Any time you texted me, i immediately answered. If you emailed me later in the week, it was a few days before I could respond because we are working hard on coordinating events. I did the best I could but without a doubt texting was (and is) the best form of communication for immediate response. Your expectations at times seemed unreasonable no matter what I did or how hard I tried. To that point, I hired an additional director to attempt to meet your expectations and needs. My team and I tried our best to help you in any way, as we truly do care about each and every client. When you booked your wedding, we made certain payment arrangements, of which we both agreed upon. Based on your payment arrangement you got more in your package and I added all I could. Once the agreed upon monthly payment arrangement was made we then had to go through your dad’s secretary each month who was unkind, rude, and demeaning when speaking with my staff. We had to go through the same process with her each month and it was definitely not appreciated. That said, I addressed that aspect with you and that’s all I could do. It was a sensitive, tough conversation, but certainly was not intended to “chew” you out. I stand up for my staff and will not let my hard-working employees be talked down to simply because we are in the service industry. So on my end, I was trying to balance great customer service with what my staff had to endure by getting talked down to monthly. Obviously, I did not succeed but the effort was there. I spent a lot of time on booking vendors and putting your entire weekend together on the back end with my team. Menus, lodging, rentals, staffing, alcohol and the hundreds of details were coordinated by me and even you said... your guests would have never known the issues on the back end. In the future, I would ask for a face-to-face meeting if you have ill-will against me—not writing an emotional review at 1:00 am on Saturday morning to berate the one person that literally put your wedding day together. I am appreciate your kind words regarding the vendors that I chose for you. The Preston Woodall House food is exceptional, Island Sound is incredible, Edible Art is the best and Jeffrey’s Florist is amazing. I paid over $700 extra—which was not reimbursed—in your floral package to make sure you had exactly what you wanted. I thought our floral meeting with Jeffrey went very well even though Johnny came at the end and we went over the entire order again. These little details make all the difference in order to make your day amazing that you obviously have not thought about. The photographer that we booked has shot many weddings at Preston Woodall House and I apologize if you did not have the best experience. I will say that the hundreds of pictures you have posted on social media look amazing, it seems that you and your guests are having an awesome time and you do look stunning. I also see many people saying what an amazing wedding you had, and I am glad that your day was fabulous regardless of how you feel. My attitude towards you and Johnny never changed, and I never wavered in my accountability and professionalism. There does come a time though, when enough is enough and I can not let me staff be verbally abused every month by people you have chosen to provide payment from. I am very sorry that out of such an amazing day that your vitriol direct opinion of me is what you remember about your wedding. I am a grandpa and a dad and I have worked tirelessly to build Preston Woodall House into a professional and fantastic facility for over 20 years. Yes, most all other reviews are incredibly positive… so not everyone is wrong, Jessica. Maybe you’re expectations were unrealistic.   • Everyone in staff did a great job to make sure everything leading up to the wedding day and after was smooth as can be. We included some vendors in our package and asked for recommendations for others, and Joel definitely delivered!

  • I've had a hard time figuring out exactly how to review our wedding at Preston Woodall House. The spaces are beautiful. They offered everything we wanted in a venue - the ability to have an outdoor ceremony with an easy emergency plan in case of rain, several on-site rooms available to be able to spend more time with those close to us, catering through the venue, and wedding planning/coordinating services. The bed & breakfast is cozy, but with a couple of quirks. The bridal suite has a huge closet and large bathroom with plenty of counter space for getting ready. However, there's no true door separating the toilet from the rest of the beautiful space. Hopefully you aren't shy around your bridesmaids! We started the process initially working with Joel, the owner, before transitioning to Nick, who was our point of contact and coordinator from that point forward.
