We were happy with them and the venue is very, very beautiful. Only a couple of reasons we didn't go with 5-stars across the board:
1.) Catering - when we originally booked the venue, they quoted an approximate rate for what we would be looking at for catering. When we went in for the catering appointment, the chef basically said that rate was completely unrealistic and we couldn't do it. Then he said he would try to figure it out. We both really felt like our rather modest budget was beneath him and not worth his time. I'm vegetarian, and his first proposal for the catering was wings or meatballs and a veggie tray. Yeah, no thanks. Much props to the coordinator who worked with me a lot after the fact to make sure we were happy. We ended up doing a bunch of appetizer platters, and it worked beautifully. The food was really good, so I think the chef is very skilled with food, just maybe not as much with people. If it was up to me, I would recommend that they don't have him meet direc... Read moretly with the couple unless they are prepared to pay a certain $ per person.
2.) We had decided not to have alcohol at the wedding, partly because of cost, but in large part because we were aware that some of the guests that were attending would get out of control. Plus, it was a day wedding, and as we are from the Seattle area, we knew a bunch of the guests would be driving home down the pass directly after the reception. Anyway, we had made it clear that we weren't doing alcohol. After our ceremony, we took a few pictures before heading into the reception, so we were the last ones in. When we came in, we noticed several tables had beer, etc. I asked one of the servers about it, and she said the people had requested it, and she had called the coordinator, who had said to just open a cash bar. I clarified that there wasn't to be alcohol, and she said they would stop serving. The coordinator later apologized and said the servers should have asked her before opening a cash bar, so someone's story wasn't straight. I found out later that when they tried to order more alcohol, instead of explaining it had been a mistake to serve it in the first place, the server had told a whole table of my new husband's coworkers that they "had been cut off by the bride". Luckily, they actually asked him about it, and we were able to set the record straight, but that was very unprofessional, and made us (me) look pretty bad.
So, yes, there were a few hiccups, but that has the potential to happen anywhere. I've mentioned these two things so others can be aware of what to look out for (and make sure to clarify in advance), but really, they were pretty minor. All in all, the wedding was wonderful, and if we had it to do over, we would totally do it there again. The venue was stunning. (If you're looking at their website, it does actually looks like the photos, which was not the case at every venue we looked at.) The coordinator worked really, really hard for us, and the landscaper actually went through and picked up ALL the goose droppings from the lawn to clear the way for our outdoor ceremony. We would recommend them!
