  • Full disclosure I didn’t book the band so I can’t speak to that experience. My husband did it as a surprise for me because he knows I love Michael Arenella’s music. He says he’s a great guy to work with though! I was obviously blown away and thought they were amazing but it was so special for our guests to experience his music and enjoy the jazz that I love so much. We had Michael and a trio at our Lake Placid wedding and it was the perfect size for 45 guests in a decent size room during cocktail hour and dinner. People got up and danced despite no real dance floor. Michael is aces, hung with our guests afterwards, dresses to the nines and is kind to everyone. I’m so immensely grateful that they were the second best thing that happen to me that day. I had so many guests tell me how impressed they were with the band and ask where we found them. I also heard that my husband asked if they could learn “our song” and they practiced & tried but got back to him and said they cou... Read more

  • Michael was fantastic. Our guests could not stop raving about the music at our wedding. Most weddings we go to have a DJ yelling at people what to do. Not Michael's band. It gave our wedding a classy, elegant vibe that we were looking for. Michael was great with communication and setting up everything on our venue (on a boat, so they seem good at adapting to the environement). We have been seeing him at the Jazz Age Lawn Festival on Governor's Island and at venues in the NYC area. He is a great musician and great person to deal with.

  • We were overjoyed to have our favorite NYC musicians come to Waterford, Connecticut for our wedding on May 26, 2019 AT Eolia Mansion! We have been going to the annual Jazz Age Lawn Party Michael and his band throw for over half a decade, and did everything in our power to be able to have them perform at our vintage wedding. It was worth planning away ahead and splurging a bit in on the music for an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience! Michael was so generous and helpful throughout the whole process, being responsible on e-mails and making sure to note our favorite songs, and he even played slightly longer than his allowed time frame which was so thoughtful and went above and beyond. Plus, he brought the trumpet to the ceremony he had said would just be an acoustic guitar, which was the best surprise! Thank you again to Michael and his band.

  • We've been big fans of Michael Arenella ever since we started attending the Jazz Age Lawn Party a few years ago. We knew we wanted him to play our wedding, and he and his band did an amazing job! Their music has such a wonderful feel to it, giving our wedding a perfect 1920s vibe. Our guests LOVED the music, and our older guests certainly appreciated the classic tunes! We had an acoustic guitar player for our ceremony (who did a great job of playing the three songs we requested), a trio for cocktail hour and a sextet for dinner/dancing. Michael is a pleasure to work with and I cannot recommend him and his band enough!

  • It was an absolute pleasure working with Michael Arenella and his band. I have seen Michael play many many times and he is always impressive. Working with Michael for our 1920's themed wedding was the best decision I made. He was patient, professional, generous with his time, and even recommended our wedding venue, The National Arts Club, which was incredible!! Michael contracted multiple musicians and the result was some of the best wedding music our guests ever experienced. At the end of the night, our entire wedding party was still on the dance floor begging for more! Thank you Michael for helping us pull off an epic themed wedding!! -Mark & Jess

  • We first heard Michael Arenella and his Dreamland band at the Jazz Age Lawn Party, which he founded, on Governor's Island. We were so delighted to find out that these amazing musicians would be able to play at our wedding that we decided to learn to do a Charleston / Peabody combo for our first dance. They were everything we hoped for and more: stylish, professional, on time and responsive. I would absolutely recommend them for anyone who likes swing and jazz age music— or even anyone who just wants good music period.

  • Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Trio were amazing during our cocktail hour following the ceremony. As usual, Michael's style and musical skills were on display while providing lively, spirited "jazz-age" music for our guest's entertainment. Michael was easy to deal and contract with, and we felt lucky to have him at our wedding. He is a true professional and a talented performer.

  • The music of Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra made our wedding day so very special. We initially heard them play at a neighborhood speakeasy and immediately fell in love with their unique sound. We both work in the music industry and have countless musicians & composers in the family, so music was extremely important to us, if not, THE most important aspect of our day. We didn't want the same-old music, especially since our wedding reception location was in a mansion on the north shore of Long Island, built in 1912. We didn't over do it with the Gatsby theme, we just wanted hints of vintage elements throughout, and Michael Arenella was the perfect addition to the romantic evening we aimed for. We worked together in the months leading up to our big day and selected songs we loved. They even played my request, on the spot, as their last song , 'la vie en rose'. We loved their sound, as did our guests and I can't recommend them enough. We still watch them play each Wednesday a... Read more

  • Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra made our day so incredibly special! Our wedding had a vintage theme that was truly brought to life by Michael's 30's and 40's swing/jazz sound. From start to finish, it was magical! Michael provided a great recommendation on the processional music we chose for our ceremony, and during the transition from ceremony to reception, the band really set the tone for the party to come. Their renditions of "Our Love is Here to Stay" for our first dance and "Unforgettable" for my dance with my father was perfect. Michael did a great job emceeing the reception to keep it exciting and moving along. Everyone enjoyed the music and had fun on the dance floor! In fact, my maid of honor just got engaged and contacted him about playing at her wedding. Leading up to the wedding, I found Michael to be very responsive when I emailed with questions. We met prior to the wedding to finalize the reception timeline and he was accommodating when we asked about add... Read more

  • My husband Mark and I first met Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra at the Brooklyn Based Wedding Crashers event in 2009. Having enjoyed our lives as Brooklynites, Mark and I wanted to invite our family and loved ones to Brooklyn to celebrate our marriage in Prospect Park's Picnic House. We decided to hire all Brooklyn based vendors to create an experience that gives true appreciation to the culture, community, and music that Brooklyn has to offer. When we first witnessed Michael and his band perform at Wedding Crashers, it was like stepping back into the 1920's. The hot classic jazz quickly resonated with us. Without a doubt, Michael's music was exactly the type of tunes we felt would make our wedding special. We decided to hire Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra to perform for our wedding ceremony and reception. Michael was an absolute delight to work with. Extremely patient, kind and creative, Michael helped this stressed out bride come up with a lovely p... Read more

  • Michael was supposed to play our wedding and then pulled out three weeks before the date, saying that there was a death in the family. i later found out he had booked another gig in Paris France which undoubtedly paid more. I also later found out from the owner of my wedding venue that this behavior is a pattern. Although he found me a replacement singer, the man who replaced him was not 1920s and my entire wedding was organized around that theme. Although michael's music is amazing, i would definitely not recommend hiring him, as he has no respect for the fact that a wedding is a really big deal.

  • We had Dreamland Orchestra provide more of a background and set an atmosphere for our reception. We had a brunch wedding, and we wanted music that would provide energy but wouldn't be overwhelming loud and make it hard for guests to talk to one another. Now, Dreamland Orchestra CAN do the dancing thing, but they also did the fun brunch-y background thing for us, which was great! All of the musicians have a great look- Michael was in suspenders and a bowtie. They played fun ragtime/swing music, and Michael has a fantastic voice. Our reception was short, so I just wish that they had taken fewer breaks and that we had had them for longer. Probably a good idea to outline the timing and the time for breaks.
