  • Jeanne Stark at Hudson Valley Ceremonies came highly recommended by our venue. Unfortunately, working with Jeanne was the most stressful part of our wedding planning experience, which is the opposite of what you hope to have with a wedding planner. We wanted to share our experience only to save other couples from similar levels of stress, anxiety, and frustration, not to disparage her. There were a few things, besides the praise from our venue, that made us want to work with Jeanne—and even a few reasons why we’re glad we did. THE PROS 1) She is very well-connected in the Hudson Valley area. A lot of other vendors know her and have worked with her.   • We could not be happier with Lauren as our wedding coordinator. Originally I reached out to Lauren thinking about hiring a "day of coordinator" as wedding planning and organizing our big day was getting to be a bit daunting to us. Lauren went so far and beyond our expectations and helped with organizing vendors, reaching out to everyone to settle the day of timeline, making sure that each contact had everything they needed, ensuring that our decor was set up, that all of our wedding party and family were taken care of, that I was calm and happy on my day and so much more.   • My Wife and I worked with Amanda O'Leary and she was an absolute life saver. We were drowning in details and falling behind in our planning. Amanda not only streamlined our vendor search with solid recommendations, she structured the remaining months leading up to our wedding with milestones to ensure we knew what to focus on and when. We had a very specific vision and she helped us achieve it on our relatively limited budget. Her creative approach to getting things done more than paid for itself.   • HVC, in particular Amanda O'Leary, was essential in every piece of planning our wedding at Basilica Hudson. We began working with Amanda in early 2018, and it was immediately apparent that we would be choosing to work with her for our special day. She brought to the first meeting a strong knowledge of our venue and the local vendors in the Hudson Valley, several great ideas about wedding logistics and decor, and most importantly she made an effort to learn about us as a couple. She helped us begin to visualize what we wanted our wedding day to be, and ultimately managed to create an unforgettable wedding weekend that truly represented us.   • Our wedding was complete perfection thanks to Jeanne and her team. She consistently went above and beyond to make our 240 person celebration a success. From catering our welcome and farewell events with delicious food to organizing every single one of our vendor details, Jeanne is the best in her business. She allows you the exact amount of control that you desire (I wanted to be very involved but use her expertise) and I couldn't be more pleased with the way it all turned out. Our wedding weekend at the Basilica Hudson was perfect and I wish others the same joy that Jeanne allowed us to have. We knew we could be worry-free in her hands.   • I highly recommend Sandra O’Connell from Hudson Valley Ceremonies if you are looking for wedding planning services and a day of coordinator! Sandra had wonderful vendor recommendations throughout the entire wedding planning process. She has great relationships with vendors in the area and she made the vendor selection process easy. Her vendor recommendations were excellent and she always worked within the budget parameters provided! She saved me so much time from having to vet vendors myself and I was 100% happy with all of the choices I made. Sandra set aside time on multiple occasions to meet with me and listen to my vision of the wedding day and give me great advice and comfort that the day would go smoothly!   • What a wonderful experience!! My husband and I got to work with Lauren Pasternak and it couldn’t have worked out better!! She made every aspect of our rehearsal and ceremony stressfree because we knew she would be there to take care of everything. And she did!! We couldn’t be happier how everything turned out and we can’t thank Lauren enough for the work she did to ensure we had an absolutely perfect ceremony.   • We chose Rev Naomi Fay, we couldn’t have been happier. The ceremony she created just for us, incorporating our personal story into our vows left nary a dry eye ‘in the house’. She welcomed our guests and made them feel a part of the ceremony yet at the same time made us feel like the only two people in the world. She was wonderful.

  • We used HVC mostly for getting set up with our wedding planner, Sandra O'Connell. Sandra was SUPERB!! We were planning our wedding in New York from Utah, and Sandra was such a doll for working with us mostly through email and only a couple times in person. She made planning and our wedding day go off without a hitch! We also rented chair covers and sashes from HVC, which were beautiful.

  • We hired HVC of our officiating cervices and had Carrie officiate our wedding from Hudson Valley Officiants and she did a beautiful job of putting together our ceremony. She really made it tailored to us and it was great talking with her during our planning calls to help her learn more about us and put together the ceremony for us. It was a great process with her where she shared the draft and we were able to make edits to it and discuss with her - which was nice, and she also then put some nice surprise parts into the ceremony that made it a little more special for us on the day to make it something that we hadn't known all about. It was a beautiful ceremony and Carrie did a great job making it feel special!

  • I will start off by saying that I am definitely a client of HVC's, as she tends to say negative Google reviewers are not her clients. To start off with the positive, HVC is extremely reasonably priced. Jeanne was able to pull off a miracle for my Welcome Dinner and made it look great on a very low budget. She is a lovely person and very knowledgeable about the Hudson Valley area and its vendors. In-person meetings are productive. I like Jeanne as a person, but I had a negative experience with HVC and would not recommend them. My take is that Jeanne is extremely overbooked. I experienced a real lack of communication and attention - her forgetting to reply to emails, not seeing them, constantly forgetting details that we discussed, etc. I feel I took on the role of planner by sending her meeting agendas and then recaps afterwards.     Wow, it took me weeks to put my words together in a diplomatic way. Let me go through a list of some discrepancies and truths: Welcome Dinner - yes the dinner that you wanted for the least amount as possible, so I sent staff over at no cost, gave you decor at no cost, full outdoor lighting at no cost, brought over tables and chairs from the Basilica and gave you linens at no charge. Lack of attention - I beg to differ, we texted each other, you decided to not use my planning system and instead use your own method, which is fine but a choice you decided to make. I then took your document and put it on Google drive so that we could both work on it together and keep everything straight and organized. Decor - we measured the fabric and the space together and came up with what size you wanted, your guests were not staring at a piece of black fabric. Not sure what flowers you are talking about. I did not loose your cake topper, it was never given to me and was never mentioned in any of our notes. Your husband and his friend hung the photo booth backdrop because he wanted to, I tried to help and they kept saying we do this all the time. Pay more for another planner, not many planners would have given so much effort so that you could have the disco balls which would have cost you 5 times the amount you paid, split rental costs with the other couples, and so much more. What is amazing are all of the other great reviews that I have from this year, except for yours. Your florist got a bad review and gave you a floral install you didn't even pay for. The caterer gave you an incredible deal and you had a complaint on the cost, but the food had to be "The Best." I made the park happen, I made the historical site happen, I gave you table numbers when the ones you wanted looked awful. I rescued you from your family when they were stressing you out. So I guess the hugs and praise the day after and the gratuity was just for show. Best of luck!

  • My wife and I were married a few days ago, with the help of many wonderful vendors and a deeply committed, available wedding planner. That wedding planner did NOT come from Hudson Valley Ceremonies. When my wife and I first secured a wedding planner several months ago, it was Jeanne Stark, the owner of Hudson Valley Ceremonies. She, and the business, seemed to come recommended and we were excited to begin planning the wedding. Initially this process went smoothly. After a bit of time, however, Ms. Stark became not just unavailable, but completely unresponsive. Over a five-week period, we tried to contact her five times by email and four times by phone, both at her number and the company’s number. We had many crucial decisions to make during this time, and were unable to proceed. This was quite distressing.   • We used HVC for day-of coordination at our summer vineyard wedding, at the recommendation of our caterer. We were underwhelmed and disappointed with HVC. Our initial frustration was with the poor responsiveness of the company; for about 3 weeks, all emails, calls, etc. to multiple addresses and numbers were left unanswered. The lack of response (or adequate coverage) was unsettling, especially since we were potential clients. We finally received a call back from the woman who would be our day-of coordinator. She is very pleasant and friendly, and always seemed eager to assist whenever we spoke, but as the day approached, we grew more anxious due to what appeared to be an overall lack of organization and inattention to detail. This culminated in a wedding day that, while beautiful, involved a great deal of unnecessary stress for us.   • Sage was amazing as a day-of coordinator. She was so calming leading up to and on the day of our wedding, totally had things under control and worked really well with all of our vendors. She also figured out a place to give all of our flowers to after the wedding. She really adapted to our style. HVC also provided a number of rentals to us for a steep discount compared to local vendors, like platters and sound equipment. Overall i'd really recommend them.
