  • What a beautiful venue. Bob was easy to work with and a lot of fun. If only every part of planning a wedding was as easy as it was setting up this part.

  • My husband and I got married at Horning's Hideout in May. It's a fantastic location and great if you want a woodsy wedding. Bob Horning (owner) is very fast at responding to emails. We loved him so much we had him be the pastor to our wedding. The location is very reasonably priced (I looked at a ton) and none compare to the natural beauty, flexibility, and time you get at your location. I recommend the creekside venue for fantastic pictures.

  • This place is fantastic, and Bob Horning is a remarkable owner/operator/vendor. After searching for an "ethereal" type setting in Hood River, Mollala, and Dundee, Horning's Hideout fit the bill perfectly. We had the Creekside area, and towering trees and a little creek provided us with the dream location. Three out of four of our other vendors had worked here previously, and were happy to be back. Despite having two other weddings the same day, we couldn't hear or see anyone from the other parties without walking at least 150 yards and peering across a large pond and through the trees on the opposite side. Privacy is essentially guaranteed. We were concerned about rain the day of the ceremony (Sat) and reserved a Very large tent ( 30' x 70'). On Wednesday before the ceremony, we called Bob as asked his opinion, and he said the tent was probably twice what we needed considering the side of the covered area at the site. After talking with Bob about the forecast, we decided to cancel... Read more

  • Incredible value. Access to your site for 24 hours. Bring your own food/alcohol service or have a friend. If you enjoy the DIY option, this is the place for you. The free-range peacocks will tie it all together!

  • My wedding has not happened yet, but so far, Bob has been easy to work with, and extremely flexible and responsive. We are getting married at the Lakeside site, which is very beautiful, and has lots of space. I love the fact that we get our space for 23 hours. For what we get, I feel like the venue is a very good value. I will update once the wedding actually happens!

  • Horning's Hideout is such a beautiful spot to get married. We chose the lakeside location, which was the perfect size for our 160 count guest list. We had a last minute rain scare, and when I was unable to find a tent to rent from any of the companies in town, Bob took time out of his busy day to pull some strings and get us a tent to cover all of our guests. That's top notch customer service! We enjoyed every aspect of working with this awesome vendor.

  • If you're looking for beautiful - yet relaxed - outdoor wedding, Horning's Hideout should be at the top of your list. We got married on 5/28/16 and with only 5 months to plan the wedding - HH was the absolute easiest part of it all. From a venue standpoint - HH offers 3 different, yet GORGEOUS, sites for celebration (we chose the Lakeside). All sites are surrounded by large pine trees (which lend a sense of grandeur and awe to the place), flowering bushes (less need for fancy decorations, water features (be it waterfall, lake, creek) and have their own private camping (a super bonus for guests who got a little too tipsy). 23 hrs of rental time (at least) meant that we didn't have to have a curfew for the party and that we could celebrate late into the night (we ended up winding down around 230a). The picnic pavilion at the lakeside easily accommodated 150 seated guests, and stayed bone dry even during rain (we did a site planning visit on a rainy day). Guest bathrooms were NI... Read more

  • We were married in August 2015 at the Creekside location. If you're considering an outdoor wedding near Portland, definitely take the drive out to meet Bob and tour his beautiful venue. It is immediately obvious how much pride Bob and his team take in maintaining and enhancing an incredible piece of property. The creekside ceremony location, surrounded by tall evergreens along an idyllic creek was like something out of a fairy tale. We truly felt like we were in the middle of the woods, despite being in one of 3 wedding spots on the property - we couldn't hear any of the other weddings going on, it felt extremely private. The newly updated dressing cabin is perfect for getting ready and kept cool because of the forested location, even in the heat of August. If you have a wedding with a lot of young children in the guest list, the Creekside spot is perfect - we had almost 30 children and they were able to run wild (but in clear sight of parents) in the large lawn and hills that are part... • We were married at the Lakeside. The trees, flowers, waterfall and lake were beautiful. All of our guests were in awe of the beauty. Bob was easy to work with and we saved money by being able to bring in our own caterers. We used the building that he says is for changing as our drink bar. It has openings with shutters like windows for serving through and was perfect. Kept the drink line separate from the food line. We had a photo booth and cotton candy set up next to it as well. Some of our family, guests camped as well that night which made our evening after the wedding so special and fun. I highly recommend this place.

  • Beautiful venue! We were at the Creekside location. The grounds are kept up very well and parking is near by. It's so magical with all the trees and the creek right next to the ceremony space. Exactly what we were looking for! I would advise renting your own table cloths as the ones they supply are removed at 10pm even if your reception isn't over yet. So just work that into your overall budget. Also, set up is allowed as early as 11am. So make sure you have a lot of helping hands to get that done quickly as 11 is a late set up time. Other than that- no complaints. It was a wonderful day- beautiful venue! Highly recommend!

  • We loved being at hornings. It was just what we were looking for. It was hard to get out to the venue since there was always weddings going on after May. It's also best if the couple is on top of things since you won't hear from them unsolicited. We received an email the week before listing things they did not allow, like hay bales ect. Which thankfully we were not planning on using but it would have been nice to be informed sooner.

  • This venue is very nice and great for the price and Bob was very easy to work with. There is, however, one huge problem for the Stage area when having a wedding; bathroom accessibility. There is no bathroom for the "ready" room under the stage. The bride and bridesmaids got all ready and had no bathroom to use before the ceremony. There should be accessible bathrooms for the stage area. I got really tired of telling all of our guests that they had to climb the hill to reach the bathroom. The bride had to climb the hill before the ceremony to use the bathroom. There is plenty of room off to the side of the stage for a bathroom, so Horning's should build one. Also, the groom and his groomsmen had no "ready" room. We had to construct a tent for them to get ready in near the stage. I hope Horning's can spend the money to make these improvements.

    responded with the following comments.

It is unfortunate that the person writing this review did not bring any of this up to me, for then they would have understood both the bathroom issue and the groomsmen "ready room". Out in the country there is no sewer lines, only septic lines which bleed into the ground, and you have to set any septic lines at least 100 ft from any body of water. So with the Stage being right at waters edge there is no physical place to place a bathroom except where they are currently located at. As far as a Groomsmen ready room there are very few requests for these, most of the men use the restrooms or the shower rooms above the stage area for dressing and the Brides and ladies take the dressing room under the Stage. Again, it is too bad the writer of this review did talk to me and I would have tried to remedy or at least have an understanding why things are the way they are.

  • I have always loved hornings hideout, we are avid disc golfers... We thought why not get married at one of our favorite places. Hornings is reasonably priced, very responsive and pretty accommodating. The grounds are gorgeous. I've recommended friends and family a least check it out and add it to their short list of venues to preview. Thanks again Bob
