  • Although we did not communicate with Grapes of Wrath directly, they met all of our dietary needs while providing an abundant and delicious buffet! All of our guests enjoyed their food and thought everything was very tasty, well cooked and presented! Highly recommend!

  • Catered my wedding in Memory Garden in Sept. 2009. Did a fantastic job organizing and the food was sooooooooooo good! All the ingredients and dishes were so good, not just typical steak/chicken/fish wedding food. I got tons of compliments on the food from my guests, and they sent my family home with the leftovers which were gobbled up immediately on a beautiful "Grapes of Wrath" platter that my husband and I still use today.

  • Grapes of Wrath was the preferred caterer for our venue (the Old Whaling Station), so we had to use them. We were not unhappy in the end, but think that some competition might encourage more diligent service. From the start communications were difficult, with missed conference call appointments, reluctance/failure to communicate via email, and lack of follow-through with information. We were not always confident that instructions had been conveyed and processed, or that fluctuating cost estimates were totally accurate. A full understanding of cost was not conveyed at the start, so our initial quote was a shock (we considered cancelling the wedding as our budget exploded), although they were willing to work with us to cut down expenses. The tasting was pleasant, though limited (only a few menu items were presented, so we had little sense of some items we ended up ordering blindly). We enjoyed talking with our coordinator, who was very nice in person, and the very enthusiastic chef. The... Read more

  • Our wedding day was July 15, 2017 at the Old Whaling Station and I came across Grapes of Wrath info on herecomestheguide. It was a beautiful day, and one of the happiest days of my life. They were very accommodating and professional! We were super impressed with the table setting, string lights, heaters, and especially the dinner! The food was very delicious and our guests enjoyed everything about it. Our guests even enjoyed the bartender. She was fun and everybody really liked how great she was too! Victoria Garcia from Central Coastal Events was our day of wedding planner, and she was on top of her game. She made sure everything was organized, which I am forever grateful! Thank you again to the staff of Grapes of Wrath!

  • We worked with Dana and it was a very positive experience. For the quality of service we received throughout and during the wedding, it was an incredible value. Dana planned a delicious menu with food that was widely appealing and delicious. The flow of the day was great, she worked well with the other vendors we had in place and everything was beautiful, well structured, and her staff was friendly and so nice!

  • I planned my entire wedding from a distance, as I live in the Midwest and did not make any trips to the area prior to getting married. Grapes of Wrath was one of the first vendors I contacted. We knew we wanted a garden wedding and we had a really small wedding (only 25 guests). Dana actually recommended the venue we ended up getting married in and it was lovely! The initial email consultation was very simple and food selection was easy. I will say that sometimes Grapes of Wrath was not the best about responding immediately to questions, and some things would get lost in the shuffle of asking multiple questions via email, but this is to be expected when planning a wedding via email and phone. I pretty much had the catering details worked out within a few weeks of contacting Grapes of Wrath, which was 10 months before the wedding. There were a few details not entirely worked out, but in the last month before the wedding all of those details got ironed out with no problems. So wi... Read more

  • Very mixed feelings with Grapes of Wrath...poor upper management, GREAT middle management and wait staff: prior to our wedding, I had a hard time getting anything from them...both by email and phone. Once they made an appointment with me and cancelled the night before at 9pm. They claim to accommodate any budget, but it was still $25/head for chicken...plus linens, $10/head for plates and glasses...all together it was about $70/person with no bells and whistles. It is nice that they let you BYOB with no corkage fee. So aside from the $$$$, the day of was AMAZING. They arrived 30 minutes ahead of schedule, accommodated my whims, and worked, quickly, efficiently, politely...you almost didn’t notice them working their magic! If you have to work with them (GOW is mandatory at many Monterey locations) make sure you communicate with one person consistently...most of my problems came from X not telling Y what we had talked about...I learned email replies are a total crap-shoot...one e... • This should be a 4.5 out of 5 overall, but the system will not let me give 5 stars. Grapes of Wrath was outstanding! The food was amazing! So many of my guests raved about the food. Grapes of Wrath did a sit-down served dinner for my wedding reception of 90 people and each plate was hot when served and no table had to wait for a long time to be served. The transition between courses was seamless. They provided 3 dinner options: Beef, Fish, and Vegan. I loved having a vegan option (it is what I chose and it was delicious!). Grapes of Wrath also prepared and served appetizers and bar-tended. There were no problems and everything flowed so well. I felt that Grapes of Wrath was very fair with all of the costs for the rentals and catering. They allowed us to provide our own alcohol which we really appreciated, but they served it which was nice. They also worked with me to meet our budget. It took a few revisions of the original quote to finalize everything, but each time Gra... Read more
