  • Julie and Natalie were great! The location, atmosphere, food and service were all outstanding. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the whole scene. We rented out several houses along officer’s row, which was wonderful to have so many of our guests on site. We absolutely love that Fort Worden was where we married - and will return to celebrate our anniversaries to come.

  • We had the most wonderful experience getting married at Fort Worden and it was everything we hoped for! The Fort provided the perfect setting for us to have a multi-day celebration with 200 guests. The many buildings and spaces offer so much opportunity to personalize your wedding. We used the Beach Shelter for a Friday welcome dinner (highly recommend Alejandro and his team at Paella House!), the Theater for Friday night fun, the Bluffs for the ceremony, the Patio/Commons for our reception, and an after party at Taps. We also had lots of fun hiking around the Fort with our guests, playing kickball on the lawn, and having a big Sunday brunch on Officer's Row. Julie and Natalie were flexible, attentive, and kind throughout the process. The food was absolutely incredible and perfectly cooked (we had salmon and lamb shank, and the appetizers and late night snack were also delicious). Everything was set up and organized perfectly, and the whole staff at Fort Worden was kind, efficient,... Read more

  • I didn't know what to expect since Fort Worden is a state park, but we knew that we wanted a location where our family and friends could spend time with us beyond a 6-hour wedding. Fort Worden exceeded all of our expectations. The staff is incredibly knowledge, helpful, flexible and with their guidance we were able to throw a 3-day party with 200 guests! The on-site wedding coordinator, Julie, was exceptional at bringing all the pieces together for our big day. This included a Welcome Dinner held on the patio of one of the houses, a beautiful ceremony at the theater, a cocktail hour outside and a reception at the Commons. Plus, a Sunday bunch for family and the wedding party. And, the food at Fort Worden was incredible, they pride themselves at creating a menu that is locally sourced. Also, the wedding industry is tight knit in Port Townsend and everyone seemed to know one another, which was such a great peak. We had the dream team and they made our wedding day incredibly special. ... Read more

  • I love working with the Fort Worden team! Their location is absolutely stunning with so many beautiful areas to tie the knot and their reception venue, The Commons, provided a lovely reception site for my recent bride and groom. The food was delicious and their servers were INCREDIBLE! I was very impressed with their professionalism, proficiency, and they were all so kind and personable. Port Townsend is beautiful, and these guys just make it better.

  • So many choices to get married. We chose what they call Madrona Hill for our outdoor wedding. The view was wonderful as you get to see almost the entire grounds from the hill. And the reception site was perfect for our needs. The onsite catering was outstanding and the best part was most all of our guests got to stay at Fort Worden in officers housing. We just loved our experience at Fort Worden.

  • The housing was amazing, we couldnt have asked for more. 95% of our guests were from out of town so we made our wedding a weekend celebration. The housing costs were reasonable and the hall/chapel rental were ridiculously cheap but very well maintained. We had so many options and the staff was SOOO helpful. If you are looking for a beautiful place for a wedding ceremony and reception.....this is your place. There are so many indoor options, and outdoor places for your ceremony, to pick from.

  • Fort Worden was the best place we ever could've chosen to have our wedding. We turned the party into a four day affair by renting out most of the amazing housing options so our family and friends could all come out Thursday-Sunday. It made the whole weekend so fun and relaxing that everyone was staying at the venue, no one had to drive after nights of too many beers, and plus Fort Worden is beautiful and fascinating. The staff was really helpful when we had to adjust some plans because we got married the same weekend as the big storm/small typhoon this past October. They made it as stress free as possible and everyone loved the whole weekend. Also, the food was AMAZING.

  • I reserved the USO Hall for our wedding reception, and a space for our outdoor ceremony. The sales director, Maureen, was a nightmare to deal with. We looked into reserving a space at Fort Worden for our wedding a few months ago, and Maureen informed us that we HAD TO use Fort Wordens catering service and were not allowed to bring in our own food or beverages. So, since we're on a budget I started searching for other venues. Then Maureen called us back and asked why I hadn't contacted her again. I told her that it was because catering wasn't in our budget and she insisted that she never said that we had to use their catering service. We hadn't found any other venues that we loved in our budget, so we decided to just go ahead with Fort Worden. We went and checked out the Chapel and the USO Hall and they are both beautiful! They are also very affordable! I am very pleased that tables and chairs are provided at no extra cost (except for outdoor venues, then you have to pay $2 per chair). ... Read more

  • Hands down, Fort Worden's newish wedding coordinator, Megan, is the reason for the season. Before working with her, the communication was exceptionally chaotic due to past employees' irresponsibility and general disregard. I was a pretty basic and organized bride--lots of excel sheets and planning in order to ensure a beautiful and simple wedding weekend with our family and friends. No matter how organized and communicative I was, past employees lost parts of our reservation that had been made a year in advance. Thank god someone thought to put Megan in charge. She is friendly, direct, honest, and incredibly helpful and positive. My experience took a complete 180 once she became my main contact. Fort Worden, make sure you keep her around, and make it worth her while. My review, of course, is reflective of the balance of my experiences. Megan, the prices, and the scenery deserve a 5. Previous disorganization deserves a 1.

Thank you so much for your review! I am so glad that we were able to work together and make sure everything turned out the way that you imagined. I hope that you'll come back and stay with us again for your anniversaries in the future! And of course, please feel free to reach out to me if you should need anything from us here at Fort Worden in the future! Best, Megan Lehr Wedding and Event Manager- Fort Worden

  • We first became familiar with Fort Worden when we attended a wedding expo in early 2014 and that event was spectacular - free champagne and wine samples, cake tasting, drawings and giveaways from local vendors and even a full spread buffet of all the types of catering offered there. We were given tours of all the buildings and quickly fell in love with Bldg. 204, an old WWII barracks hall. We were able to have our rehearsal, ceremony, and reception in the same building for one low price. The facilities provide some helpful extras such as tables, chairs and A/V equipment without additional fees. Also, the director of events for Fort Worden, Geoff, was extremely helpful and went out of his way to get us anything we needed - even literally driving to Poulsbo and Tacoma for our chair covers and tablecloths!

  • We really liked this location. It was exactly what we wanted, something simple for an outside ceremony and an inside outside reception. It was extremely well priced and very simple. The area is beautiful, and there are lots of great spots to take photographs after the wedding if you would like them outdoors.
