  • I originally started planning my wedding with David Alan back in 2018 for my May 2020 wedding at the Glastonbury Boathouse. Meaghan was amazingly helpful in guiding me through the catering planning process, making recommendations, and staying within our budget. They were responsive and incredibly flexible through our 2 COVID postponements and ultimately downsizing our wedding to less than 20 people for this past May. I can't say enough about how good the food and service was on our wedding day! Our day-of coordinator Rebecca helped the day go smoothly and set up the venue so beautifully and even better than how I had imagined. The quality of the food and the experience was an incredible value for the price. I highly recommend David Alan as a wedding caterer!

  • They worked with me on the menu and pricing to make it something delicious and elegant but affordable. We had tres major, chicken piccata, Mac and cheese, corn, potatoes, and appetizers. All I’ve heard since the wedding is how much everyone loved the food! All my guests said they were so thrilled it was some of their favorites, comfort foods, familiar foods, and they all said how delicious it was! They even helped me out with some linens and little extras here and there. Everyone was great about cleaning up but not rushing anyone, and I think the tiny kids got served their kids meals without having to get up to the buffet! I’m not sure how they knew where they were sitting, but they did! The food was great, the staff was so great to work with, the tasting was even a very nice time! Loved it all!

  • We got married at the Wadsworth Mansion which recommended David Alan to us. We had a lovely tasting a few weeks before the wedding and were able to ask questions about the menu and make some changes such as toning down the spice in one of the dishes. They were easy to work with and did an amazing job handling the restrictions of covid. The food was served in a very safe manner and our guests felt comfortable which was very important to us.

  • We are so grateful for our experience with David Alan Hospitality Group for our wedding day held at Smith Farm Gardens! Navigating wedding planning during COVID was not easy, but Meghan was amazing to work with as she met each challenge with ease. She responded to my many emails and phone calls promptly, and she was always willing to give advice and recommendations whenever I needed it. We knew after our very first consultation with her that she had an abundance of knowledge and experience in the industry which gave us complete confidence in her ability to pull everything together. Meghan was very accommodating in working with us for our menu selection and budget at our tastings.   • I cannot speak highly enough of Rachael from DA. Rachael and her team went above and beyond the entire process and day of. She helped us customize our menu to reflect ours tastes and my husbands Haitian culture. She understood our vision for the big day and was there every minute to make sure it was everything we had hoped for. The food and presentation was incredible. 5 star rating for me.   • Flawless. At first, we choose David Alan Hospitality Group (DAHG) for our wedding based on our initial feelings—food was amazing, staff was friendly & helpful, reviews were great. As time went on, it began to feel like it was a privilege and an honor to be able to work with DAHG. There actually aren’t enough positive adjectives to describe DAHG. We have two viewpoints: One of your common wedding planning and one of a global pandemic. When we thought we were having planning our original 2020 wedding, the staff DAHG was patient, understanding, kind, helpful, supportive, available.   • David Alan Hospitality Group was OUTSTANDING. They worked hand in hand with us to create the perfect menu for our guests and every bite of food they created was mouth watering. Meghan was excellent at answering any questions I had and Rachael was phenomenal as our day of person at the venue. Because of Covid, some of our wedding plans had to change and Meghan helped change those details along the way with no hesitation. They also changed their serving methods to make sure people were safe and the spread of germs were minimal. They made easy, grab and go, self serve appetizers for their harvest table and desserts. There staff was fantastic at making sure my husband and I as well as our families were taken care of as we were doing our nightly duties. I would highly recommend David Alan Hospitality Group to anyone needing a catering service. They made our wedding experience priceless.

  • What can I say but working with David Alan Hospitality Group was an extremely pleasant experience!! Carley and her staff were so attentive and made the whole process run smoothly from day one until the end of the wedding! We used them for my daughter’s wedding and couldn’t have been happier with every single detail. The most impressive part was that on the day of the wedding is I knew everything was going to be handled professionally and perfectly and that I didn’t have to worry about a thing!! I really enjoyed the day and could relax knowing that Carley and her team were taking care of all the details. The bartender, Robin was great! They had a bridal attendant to help things run smoothly with introductions and other details. They all seemed to genuinely love their jobs and it showed.   • David Alan was our second pick for a caterer (our friend is a chef at a restaurant that also provides catering) and we did love their tasting. But when we found out that they could also help us with day-of coordination even if they were not our caterer, we knew we needed their expertise! We worked with Carly in advance of the wedding for renting ceremony chairs, extra tables and tablecloths, and all of our glasses and plates (the restaurant would have had to rent them as well and would have passed an additional charge on to us). We also had Nate for our rehearsal , and both of them were there to make the day of absolutely perfect! It was so nice to just enjoy the moment and know that if something needed to happen we could count on them. We could not have done it without them; all of the details were handled and it all went so smoothly. We would absolutely use David Alan for catering as well as planning other events in the future.

  • From our first meeting, we knew we had to hire David Alan for our wedding at the Branford House. We had done food tastings at a few other caterers and were unimpressed. David Alan blew us away at our tasting and we knew immediately we had found the one. Meghan was fantastic from start to finish. She answered the million questions I had and worked with me through my indecisiveness. We had Robin on the day of the wedding. Robin and the rest of the staff were amazing. Our bridal attendant was right there for anything we needed. The food is fantastic!! We received so many compliments, especially on the sea bass (my personal favorite - I’m still drooling over it) and the prime rib. We had a few chefs at our wedding, so to have them praise the food really tells you how amazing David Alan is. They know the venue well, and worked great with our coordinator and other vendors. I did not worry about a single thing that day! I highly recommend David Alan - you will not be disappointed.

  • My daughter & son-in-law used David Alan at their recent wedding at the Branford House in Groton,Ct. Everyone was very impressed with the variety, presentation & quality of the food. In addition, the professionalism & friendliness of the entire staff was superior. We were completely satisfied & would recommend them without hesitation.

  • DAHG was a dream come true! The service, the food, the atmosphere was impeccable. I am so thankful that we hired them for our wedding vendor. They were easy to work with, listened to all of our questions and ideas, we're flexible and truly brought our vision to fruition. We got so many compliments on how nice the tables looked, the attention to detail the entire night, and most importantly, how tasty the food was! As the bride, our bridal attendant was beyond compare. My husband and I joked at how we were going to take him home. I felt so loved and comforted this entire process. I would highly recommend these caterers to anyone. Thank you so so so so much team!!

  • Working with Meghan and team was amazing. She was extremely responsive to my emails, answered my many questions, worked within our budget and was able to make our vision for the day come to life! Her team went above and beyond in so many ways, from our bridal attendant Nate who anticipated our every need (and more!) on the day to Robin, our D.O.C who took on tasks above and beyond. We said several times throughout the process "how would we have done this without David Alan?" They were the perfect vendor for our perfect day.

  • As I read these reviews I am heartbroken that we didn’t have the same experience for our daughter's wedding. Their food and service was unacceptable. They advertise "superior service" and "attention to detail". We found a Facebook post on our Event Supervisor’s page 3 days before our event "looking for waitstaff for a wedding this weekend- must have reliable transportation". Really??? The servers were so inexperienced it took over 2 hours to serve 100 dinners, and the meals were cold. No water refills all night. Several guests commented that the staff "don't know what they're doing". Perhaps the chefs were new recruits too. The meals weren’t even close to what we had at the tasting. Our salmon and chicken dishes were dry, "crispy" eggplant was mushy, "apple chestnut risotto" was undercooked white rice.     Hi Colleen- We are certainly dissatisfied with your review and never want to have someone unhappy. We are not in the business of making our customers unhappy and for that we apologize. We do not like to refute/dispute reviews only provide some context and transparency. It is our highest priority to help our clients no matter what. We strive to go above and beyond and from the many happy and loving couples we have worked with feel honored to do so. With that being said I will address your issues noted- The Event Supervisors post on Facebook is accurate. We are always looking for help as we are consistently growing and look to hire on an ongoing basis. The complete dinner service took approx 1.5 hours from time guests first sat down to toasts, eating, and ultimately finishing. This event took place at The Hillstead Museum in Farmington, of which we are very knowledgeable. We setup our kitchen outside as we normally do and plated out from the conference room across from the gift shop. Our chefs utilize chaffing dishes to serve food from in order to maintain its temperature as it is important to serve hot food. We are unhappy to hear that some guests did not enjoy their meals. We observed many of the dishes coming back empty which is usually a great sign! We cannot express enough our gratitude for being given the opportunity to help with this event and sincerely apologize for the things discussed in this review. We pride ourselves on being highly organized, responsive and truthful but do realize we cannot please everyone all the time although we try to!!
