  • Cheryl recently officiated our wedding on 5/12/18 at 2941 Restaurant. She was a pleasure to work with and made the process, even writing our wedding ceremony, easy and stress free. She was very helpful at the rehearsal to get our family ready for the wedding day. We enjoyed her warm personality and was happy she was part of our day. Thanks again Cheryl. VH & SN

  • Cheryl is a sweet lady until she disagrees with you. In our case, it started with her saying she sent emails that we never received. We didn’t push back on this because she seemed like such a sweet lady otherwise. Then she started acting odd about money. She tried to increase her fees and got pretty obnoxious, including sending a nasty email two days before the ceremony with our children. We didn't need that negativity on our special day, so we told her not to come. In the end we found someone else and our kids loved the ceremony with the other person, so it is tempting not to write a review of Cheryl since it ended well without her. However, because she seems so nice at first, we thought we should warn others.

All and Michael, at least once in your work life you may encounter the weird and impossible - this was a career topper and is a good experience for all. All communication before the 1st Ceremony was either through Wedding Wire or through Michael's personal email account - Michael was communicating from Pakistan. His legal 1st Ceremony was in D.C., he was late and I took pictures for him and sent them. He said he was pleased. He constantly throughout said he wasn't receiving emails. Calls were tried, not Skyped (am experienced with Skypes from India, China, Australia, Japan, England, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, and Africa). Up until the 2nd Ceremony he insisted he was not receiving my emails or my Receipt for Reservation (the Receipt outlines all services, service fees, my responsibilities and the clients responsibilities). Never move forward without receiving the signed and initialed agreement, regardless of where the client lives - he never signed his Receipt for Reservation to date. Each of the following were constantly moving targets/decisions: number of ceremonies as well as dates and times, ceremony and mileage fees, filling out the Questionnaire which outlines preferences for your Ceremony, being late for the first ceremony due to forgetting to pickup flowers and disregarding advice of free parking at the Tidal Basin Boathouse also, adding to the 35 plus minutes lateness. I bent over backwards to accommodate his constant changes, tardiness, requests and eventually a hate email filled with inaccuracies that were actually lies. I have been blessed with officiating couples marriages for 26 years - in that time I've learned many important life lessons, and yet was blessed with less than 5 difficult experiences. I made one assumption that proved wrong - I assumed a former attorney would honor normal responsibilities. This one unfortunately covered each and every area that should have told me loud and clear not to have accepted either Ceremony! I always hope for you a happy, healthy and blessed life Michael and Hanh! V/r Cheryl

  • Cheryl was outstanding for our small, custom, semi-popup wedding ceremony in Washington DC. Her fun personality also contributed to the fun but intimate ambience we were aiming for. Despite it being nearly the hottest day of the year, she delivered on the custom ceremony we designed with her and kept the situation lively and fun. We recommend Cheryl to just about anyone wanting a full spectrum of flexibility on their wedding plans. She does this for fun because it is her passion, rather than being her primary means of making a living, so we enjoyed the fact that our wedding also meant something to her.

Oh WOW Ana and Marc! Thank you for your special review and for sharing your Special Day with me. How wonderful to find from your Families there is a Colorado and Montana link! Yes, though hot and humid just lived the venue. Bluejacket was so fun.

  • Officiants in DC area were more expensive than we expected... but Cheryl provided an exceptional service for the lowest price in the area! We had NO idea how to plan/build our own ceremony, but Cheryl made sure we understood everything, she answered all the questions, and provided suggestions based on her experience. From our initial consultation, Cheryl was very welcoming, kind, and professional. She also tried to get to know us as a person, which was nice and comforting. With Cheryl's help, we are able to have an intimate & customized ceremony that was filled with lots of love. We & our guests absolutely loved it!!

  • Cheryl was professional, warm and excited for our wedding. She gave us valuable documents that newlyweds should consider. My wife and I are Latinos and I was really impressed with how well she connected with us. We wanted our ceremony to be in Spanish and Cheryl impressed us with her Spanish skills. I know its not easy to speak another language so she went above and beyond. Also when the clercks office could not find our marriage certificate she went the next monday got two certificates for us and delivered it to us. Wow! Muchas gracias Cheryl por ser tan duce y profesional con nuestra boda. Eres una gran oficiante con mucho corazon. Eres la mejor! Gustavo y Ana

  • Cheryl was easy to work with. She performed our ceremony as we wrote it and provided feedback about our ceremony when we asked. She provided templates for the rehearsal and examples of ceremonies. She was responsive and returned emails/phone calls in a timely manner. I have no complaints.

  • My husband and I enjoyed working with Cheryl - she really took the time to listen to us and did an excellent job during our ceremony and making sure we were totally prepared beforehand. We even had multiple guests comment on how lovely her message and blessing for us was! After meeting with her the first time over Skype, my then-fiance and I knew she was a great decision for our wedding officiant, and her prices are really good. I would highly recommend Cheryl!

  • Would not recommend. After being asked multiple times by both of us, Cheryl continued to correspond with either myself or fiance, not both, which made communication difficult as we were preparing for our wedding and busy traveling for work. Despite being asked at least three times to simply "reply all" and loop the other back in the conversation, she would reply back to one of us. This created a lot of frustration and confusion. After she sent an invoice to only one of us, husband requested: "I'm sorry I thought you had it, I copied her in on all emails I sent to you and didn't realize you weren't "replying all" I frowarded her the invoice and she will take care of it. Please include her, and reply all in the future." She said she was unable to find any of this correspondence, but I have at least 3 specific times we requested her to reply all, and she said that she couldn't because she was on an iPad (?) She spent a lot of time explaining the name change process, and tips for sh... Read more

Daniel and Heidi, I'm so sorry and surprised at your recent review. I've just now read each of our emails (10 in all), from beginning to end, of our communications with each other over 2 1/2 months, which started in June with Daniel contacting me through Wedding Wire. I knew about your recent move, but there is no mention in any of our emails asking me to email both of you. In our conversations, I'm not 100% sure you requested me to send emails to both either. But, regardless, both of you were addressed in my emails to you. The emails were your opportunity to communicate your concerns. I noticed you refrained from interacting with me at your wedding. Though I always make an effort to become acquainted with couples, in my world I believe communication is a two-way street. If you didn't feel you were able to communicate, you and Daniel had over two months to address obtaining a different Officiant. Your Deposit was refundable - having an Officiant that you are comfortable working with is key, and, is your responsibility. I am distressed that you now discovered that you didn't enjoy the services I gave you. I certainly would have assisted you in finding another Officiant had you taken the time to talk with me about your concerns. Unfortunately, you chose to bring these concerns to me six weeks after the fact when it was too late to resolve this issue.

  • I booked Cheryl for my wedding Clearly gave her the date and time She wrote the information wrong with two different times. Now when I called her on it and showed her proof that she was wrong instead of admitting it she’s taking my money and running. Will not refund me. Not even one cent. Says it’s my fault. I’m like well can’t you take some responsibility? Nope told me to grow up and get loss. I even sent her an evite with clear Date stamps of my event I simply believe when we booked she gave me a good price. Then when she realizes it was a holiday weekend booked someone else for a higher price and asked me to move my time. She even became nasty when I pointed out she was wrong. What kind of Pastor are you. Man. Make sure you Watch this one. Has no problem stealing.

Couple had seven (7) months to address the time of their wedding on their Receipt for Reservation (Agreement). Date, Time, meetings, Rehearsal are always spelled out. When agreement was sent back to me last Octber 2017, they took 3 weeks to read and edit the agreement ( Word format). I was told today that the time was 6 hours earlier than scheduled. Couple were offered 4 choices for me to Officiate. Unfortunately, they only wanted to be verbally abusive instead of working out a solution. Main importance was for me to Officiate their marriage. They never read the Receipt (agreement), and only today sent me a copy of their Evite. They've chosen to find another Officiant. Didn't take up my offer to still marry them. They didn't ask for their time change until today, days from their wedding. Agreement plainly states any date or time changes have to be made before the last Month (30 days) prior to wedding date. I wish the couple well, and, I'm still offering them my services.
