  • Stephen is hands down the best! From our first conversation I knew he would be the DJ we booked for our wedding. He is very knowledgeable about his work and is so easy to work with, even when we made changes to our timeline the day of our event.

  • I booked Crystal sound and Magic to DJ my Destination wedding nearly on a complete whim. from the very start Steve was very responsive to my phone calls and emails. He nailed the playlists for all events of the wedding (ceremony/cocktail hour/ dinner/ reception). the day of my wedding Steve and his wife Crystal went above and beyond to make sure we really enjoyed the best day of our lives. He set up his rig on the beach, where our ceremony was held. Then he moved his equipment up many many stairs to make sure we could have music and mics for speeches during our dinner. He continued to exceed my expectations by setting up a killer light show on the beach. His wife Crystal was also exceedingly helpful. when she wasnt helping the DJ set up, she was first to ask how she could be of any help. She Stepped in during dinner and helped bus all the tables, and even assisted with the breakdown of the dinner room. when the party got late and our hired bartender was relieved for the... Read more

  • We used Crystal Sound and Magic to do our photography, videography and DJ, at our beach wedding this summer. We decided to use Stephen and his wife based on the positive internet reviews and on a great phone conversation with him about his services. We were not disappointed. Our communication was great from the beginning. Whenever I had a question I called and Stephen was always helpful and had many good suggestions. He is a kind and funny person who is really just a pleasure to deal with. I felt that Stephen and Crystal went above and beyond what I expected. Our pictures and videos came out great and our guests loved the music. I will cherish my photos and videos forever! Stephen and Crystal worked really hard and they didn't miss a beat and really thought of everything. I highly recommend Stephen and his company! Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for helping to make our day great!

  • From start to finish Steven had it all together and his questionare was right on time helping us organize things music wise. He did a great job with the ceremony and helped bring joy and laughter to us after a very tearful entry from my grandfather that left everyone reaching for tissues . Thank you for a job well done

  • We booked Stephen's services based upon the positive reviews on wedding wire. He communicated with me a few times before the big day, thought of details we never would have given attention to ourselves, and was very flexible. Our wedding took place on the beach at Emerald Isle and he offered up a microphone for our officiant and us that kept out the high wind noise. Stephen set up ceremony music on the beach prior to guests arriving, moved the music to the reception at the Islander in a very efficient transition. The music selections kept a large number of guests on the dance floor. He even agreed to stay longer when we had guests that were still on the dance floor after the predetermined end time. Crystal a Sound and magic DJ helped make the evening jovial, offered great atmosphere to the ceremony and reception. I highly recommend his services.

  • It was a ton of fun. He played all the music that I had requested not only for the ceremony but the reception as well. He was always checking in to make sure we were still running on schedule. We were very happy with the whole night and everyone was on the dance floor! Enjoyed it!

Thank you Kelsey! I was actually so jealous that I couldn't get out on the dance floor too! I loved being a part of your wedding!

  • Stephen was an amazing DJ!! He was able to do everything we requested for our wedding ceremony and rehearsal and so much more! We ended up changing some things VERY last minute and he was so accommodating and able to make the last minute changes without any issues at all. I would 100% recommend Crystal Sound to anyone for their wedding or event. Our guests had such a blast on the dance floor all thanks to them :)

Chelsea you were an amazing bride! So beautiful and fun! I roll with the changes cause all I want to do is make your day the best it can be! Thank you!

  • It was great knowing we had a DJ for the entire wedding reception. No matter how long we went into the night (or early morning) they were there providing the entertainment without us worrying about additional charges or fees. They were great to deal with and very accommodating!

  • Stephen was very responsive to emails and calls, and promised countless times that our wedding day would be seamless. However, the day of the wedding he was very difficult to work with. 1) He has to be cued a few times during the ceremony for music changes, even though we’d been over it all ahead of time. 2) He was constantly out back smoking during the reception, and my husband (the groom!) had to track him down several times. 3) We sent him a list of 20+ songs we wanted played during the reception; this was a collection of our favorite songs that we spent a lot of time on, even tracking down the url for a YouTube video of each song per Stephen’s request. He played maybe two of them, and we had to fight for those two. My husband and I asked him separately to play the song list we requested, and it was like pulling teeth. At one point he told me that we had too much “rock” on the list and he didn’t think anyone would like it. I could’ve cried. I was so looking forward to da... Read more

I am so sorry they were not happy with my performance. As far are as getting cues it was necessary for they were all inside a barn as the ceremony began. The ceremony was outside and I needed cues as to when to start the songs as I could not see them from my vantage point. It was handled I thought seamlessly all things considered. Add to that the fact that they changed up the song order last minute. As far as the reception that was a DJs worst nightmare. The playlist was rock and they did request 20 songs which I played. I actually downloaded more songs in the same genre. The problem was that the guests were constantly requesting top 40 and hip hop. The reason there were not many people on the dance floor is they were not feeling the rock playlist. Don't get me wrong I love rock and I even approached the Hanna several times to tell her that the guests wanted line dances and top 40 but she wasn't having it. I did my best to accommodate everyone and I hate telling guests no. As far as the smoke breaks I did take 3 or 4 in a four hour period outside and I could see the dj table which was never left unattended. I did this also during long songs and was always back inside before the next song started. I am not making excuses but I needed to clear the air of misunderstandings. I always strive to give the best performance possible but pleasing everyone is sometimes an impossible task. They thanked me profusely at the end of the night which is why this harsh review is somewhat of a shock. Oh well someone has to take the blame I guess. My apologies again.

  • Stephen offered us an amazing deal when I told him how my (now husband) and I were struggling financially to be able to afford our wedding. He gave us an unbelievable package including his services as our officiant, DJ, ceremony sound, and videography. He was very accommodating all the way through and always reachable by email or phone prior to the wedding. The day of, he was the perfect officiant (we loved his personalized ceremony service just for us as well as his quirky humor) and that the service itself was short and sweet just how we wanted it to be. The ceremony music went off without a hitch (as far as I know anyway). For DJ services, he had an information sheet which he had us fill out that I think covered all the basics and all of those expectations were met. My husband was a little disappointed in the dancing turnout - but I think that had to do with a combination of things including the bright light in the ballroom (wish we'd spent a little extra for mood lighting),... • Stephen and his wife done our wedding, the pictures actually taken were no different than ones friends took there. We received no formal pictures, not even one. We have no wedding party pictures due to the one camera that he used broke and he was unaware until weeks later when we asked for our pictures. His wife did no back up shots. So NOT ONE FORMAL WEDDING PICTURE. This was a horrific professional photographer shoot. We filled out his detailed forms. We gave no specific wedding shots but did request formal pictures. We received hair shots, blurred dance shots and a lot of duplicates. There were some great photos of cake cutting and speeches. I wrote them and now 3 months later, I have received no response. I said we paid you $1400 for your services and we received 2/3 of the contract, we received some regular (no wedding pictures) and he did dj. I told him a refund of 1/3 would be reasonable to my husband. There is nothing I want from them. My husband called to ask about formal pic... Read more

Sadly the truth is subjective. Yes I had a catastrophic camera failure and the formals were lost. I even sent the camera to Nikon and they can't tell me why. That said here is the truth from my point of view. We gave them 1493 pictures and that is a lot, but we did shoot from the hair appointment at the salon to the last dance. (13.5 hours!) Five minutes before the ceremony was to start the tide came in and waves were lapping at the chairs so with the camera around my neck, I and a couple groomsmen, moved the entire wedding set up (arbor, chairs and sand ceremony) 100 yards down the beach cause the bride was on her way.... I DJed for 9 hours as well. I noticed the camera was shutting down and switched to my back up. I offered to shoot the formals at sunset but sadly the wedding party (bride and groom included) were so hammered it wasn't gonna happen. (the grandmother literally had to be carried out by the groomsmen cause she was THAT drunk!).... So I hoped for the best and unfortunately my worst fears were realized as the images of the formals were "File not found" on the computer! There was nothing I could do. I offered a reshoot, they refused, I offered a one year anniversary romantic shoot, they refused, and just wanted a refund. Bottom line we gave them 1493 pictures, we were on the job 13.5 hours and everyone had a great time for $1400.00, which I discounted from my regular price of $2200.00 cause they couldn't afford it. I am truly sorry they are disappointed but I did try to make it right!.... Jennifer is right though...They did not get what they paid for! They got more all things considered! Given the time we put in, and having to move the venue, plus a nine hour reception as DJ, as well as 1493 pictures, I feel on that wedding I went above and beyond the call of duty! Some people just want something for nothing I guess.

  • Husband and wife team that are easy to work with, very proffessional. Wife takes all the pics and video while hubby plays the tunes and the light show. Only thing I suggest is that you print out an agenda if you want him to say certain things, the questionnaire didn't seem like enough. He was pretty quiet for a DJ. Also, would have liked pictures of each table while people were sitting or at least group pics but didn't get that. Overall, venue turned out good, pictures and video are great and cannot beat the price!

  • Terrible choice of DJ. So many things went wrong or were not done correctly. There was a song listed for the groomsmen to walk out to and it was never played. My song to walk down the aisle started early and was already playing before I even entered. My grandmother was supposed to say a prayer before our dinner and that never happened. That was something very important to me. All of this information was written out in detail in a form sent to the DJ in advance. The bouquet toss was done way late after most guests had already left. The DJ made a rude remark to the bride after she apparently threw her bouquet too early. Musical cues were completely missed or not done at all. In between special dances and events there was complete silence instead of the DJ directing what will happen next so people would know what to do. During dance time, the DJ told a guest he was going to jam as much 90s music as he could in a few minutes and kept repeatedly changing the song while people were dancing t... Read more

I truly regret that Heather was unhappy with my performance but this is why I try to dissuade my clients from using friends and family. She had hired a "Wedding coordinator" who was a friend of hers. I was set up was off to the side of the venue and there was no direct line of sight to where the bridal party was entering. I asked to be moved but was told that I could not. I had asked that coordinator give me cues, and expected her to do so, but she was no where to be found when the ceremony started. Not being able to see made me have to guess when they were coming in so yes I missed cues. As far as the 90's remix it is a medley of about twenty 90's songs set to beat. It has been well received in the past. Bottom line, I had no idea what the bride wanted. I was never told about the grandmother, the bouquet toss went when I was finally told to do it. I usually count the bride off but she just chucked it. The photographer looked pissed. My "rude" comment was not rude at all. I simply said "I think your photographer missed the shot." Again no timeline or communication. I'm sorry but I refuse to step over another vendor and do their job for them unless the bride specifically asks me to (which has happened in the past). Not passing the buck here but as with anything I am only as good as the information I am given and there was hardly any in this case. I will not ever ruin an event by complaining to the bride that another vendor is failing at their job. I will improvise and hope for the best. Usually it works out but in this case sadly it did not and I am sorry for that. As for the smoke breaks that is categorically untrue.
