  • I came to Cheryl Lofton at the recommendation of my Floravere stylists for wedding dress alterations. I worked with Valerie who had altered the same dress for someone else which made me confident that she knew the style and fabric well. Valerie was very down to earth, detail-oriented, and attentive to my preferences. The dress came together wonderfully and I loved the way that we changed the back of the dress and made it into a low V back. I found the prices to be more reasonable than another alterations shop I considered in Alexandria, Virginia. What I appreciated even more was that they gave me a pricing quote free of charge based on what I wanted to change even before I put the dress on! I would absolutely recommend Valerie and Cheryl Lofton for wedding dress alterations.

  • I bought a beautiful Lela Rose gown online for my wedding but it was two sizes two big. Cheryl and her team took the dress apart and put it back together in such a beautiful way that it looked like the dress was custom made. Miss Valerie also suggested alternations that made me look even BETTER, including a belt that she made from the extra dress material! And the price was VERY reasonable. If you're picky like me and want someone to help you look fabulous for your big day, look no further!

  • I bought my wedding dress from a luxury boutique in Philadelphia that was going to do $1,000 of alterations free of charge with my purchase. I quickly realized it wouldn’t be possible to drive to PA for every fitting leading up to my wedding, so panicked about who to trust my dress with. I called a few places recommended by friends, and most quoted $900-1000. Cheryl Lofton gave me a much more reasonable price. I was worried about trusting my delicate silk dress with someone I hadn’t used before, but the tailors here did amazing! They were super quick, but did great quality alterations so my dress fit perfectly (and I was even nitpicky about every last change needed). So glad to have found them. Will definitely use them for future alterations.

  • My husband (!) and I have been going to Cheryl for years. So, when we got engaged, I knew I would trust no one else with my wedding dress! About that dress: I dropped about two sizes between when I bought it and our big day. Yet, Cheryl and her team made sure my dress fit me perfectly! I also had a rather impressive train, and they were really invested in making sure it was the most flattering and gorgeous bustle. I had lace all around the bottom of my dress, so hemming it was a bit complicated. They had to remove it all, shorten it, then reapply it. The final result looked seamless. Cheryl and her team aren't tailors -- they're magicians! Everything she touches turns out impeccably. She even does custom clothing. (I mean, if she's good enough for Michelle Obama...)

  • Cheryl Lofton and her team are seamstress queens. I created a custom dress that I THOUGHT fit, and realized through my fittings at Cherly Lofton, that we could make the dress look 3 times as good. My dress had lace, sparkles, sleeves - all the difficult stuff, and the team handled all alterations with ease. Cheryl also helped me FINALLY find a jumpsuit that was not see-through -and my seamstress had to basically remake it because I have a very long torso. It fit like a dream after my fitting. Their prices are maybe 10% more than average in DC, but when you are getting something tailored, don’t you want it to be perfection? It’s worth the $5-10 extra dollars.

  • I had my wedding dress tailored at Cheryl Lofton & Associates for my Fall DC wedding. It was very easy to set up my appointment, and the turn-around on my alterations was very fast (I had a simple crepe gown from BHLDN). I ended up returning 10 days before my wedding to have a small bustle added, and they were able to accommodate. A great value and professional service.

  • Cheryl Lofton is amazing! I had gone for previous alterations and knew that I could trust them with my wedding dress, and it turned out perfectly. Ali worked on my dress, which initially was a two piece (corset and skirt). Cheryl and Ali recommended that I either put pressure buttons in so that the top didn't come out all night or that we sew the top and skirt together. I opted for the latter, and I was so glad that I did - it looked like it had been a dress all along. Without their expert advice, I think i would have regret my choice of a two-piece. Everyone in the shop is super friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable given the quality of the work. You won't regret it!

  • The Cheryl Lofton team was great! they made my dress fit perfectly, and even helped recommend an accessory that would pull everything together! I've used them for altering a bridesmaid's dress for a friend's wedding too and that process was also painless and easy!

  • I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful experience I had with Cheryl and her wedding dress specialist Martha. I decided two months out from my wedding to wear my mother's wedding dress. Prior to calling Cheryl A Lofton, I had visited two other places and called four. Everywhere else was not going to be able to get the dress finished in time, didn't seem to understand my vision or were ridiculously expensive and out of my price range. When I called Cheryl, I could already tell from the conversation with the receptionist that I was going to feel much more comfortable in their hands because she assured me that nothing that I was asking for was a problem. I was completely sold when I visited the shop. I so appreciated how much they all shared my excitement and my love for my mother's dress. They really made me feel so special! And beyond that, they did FANTASTIC work. I came in for the normal fittings, but because they were doing a lot of work on the dress, I had to come in... Read more

  • I had a great experience with Cheryl Lofton & Associates! Valerie altered my dress and she did amazing work. Cheryl was also very flexible and helpful when I had an anxiety-provoking situation. When it came to my wedding dress, I was very indecisive and anxious. By the time the first round of alterations was done, I had decided to go with a different dress. Since I had already mostly paid for all the work, Cheryl said that if I brought my new dress to the store, she would work out a deal for me by crediting the cost of the alterations on the new dress to the work I had already paid for the original dress. This really helped put my mind at ease and I am so thankful. I could not recommend Cheryl Lofton & Associates more. (And yes, I am planning to sell the original dress!)

  • I had a great experience working with Martha at Cheryl Lofton & Associates! She did a beautiful job with my dress. After I took home my dress, I noticed one armhole was too tight (no fault of Martha's, the armholes measured the exact same), but I called Cheryl, and she had me bring it in for a quick repair. What should have taken a whole week was done in 2 days, and my dress was perfect for my wedding day! Several of my bridesmaids had their dresses altered here, and they all looked perfect. I also always enjoyed coming in for my fittings, as the employees here are all so kind and helpful, it really felt like I was with friends. I highly recommend Cheryl and Martha!

  • I debated leaving a negative review - hopefully this will be helpful for others. I called for an appointment 3 mos before my wedding and was given a date 2 weeks out. When I arrived there was a woman being seen by the gentleman that does alterations. After 10 minutes when she had more outfits to try on, I asked if she was going to be long given I had an appt and taken off work. They finally asked her to let me have the fitting. I came out and they started pinning the dress. There was lots of consternation about what they could/couldn't do regarding support for the dress. In the meantime the other woman had a dog with her and was dutifully glued to her phone instead of the pet she was allowing to just run around. I turn around and the dog is on my train. I am a dog person, and I'm a pretty reasonable person, but seriously? I go to change and when I come out of the small area the rude woman is already back front and center being tended to. I received a phone call after I left ... Read more

Hi Andrea, Once again, we deeply resent our client's behavior in regards to watching her pet. We are pet-friendly; however, the way in which she lacked control of her dog was completely unacceptable. We hold no favoritism, but do do our best to approach sensitive situations in the most professional way possible. Unfortunately, we dropped the ball in your experience and really appreciate the feedback that you've given. While we're sorry that we lost you as a client, we're very happy to hear that the outcome of your alterations turned out so well! We wish you and yours a lifetime of love and our best wishes. Best, CL&A

  • Cheryl and her entire staff were so welcoming and wonderful to be around during the alterations process for my wedding gown. Martha did a wonderful job on the alterations and had the best attention to detail! I was extremely nervous about altering my gown, particularly making any cuts to the lace, but Martha and Cheryl made me feel so comfortable and I knew my dress was in good hands. The turnaround time was extremely reasonable given the busy fall wedding season, and I could not find better prices on the alterations anywhere else in DC! Choosing Cheryl Lofton & Associates was one of the best wedding vendor choices I made!
