As a small business owner, I understand how important customer reviews are and I felt compelled to offer my advice to future brides looking for a special wedding cake. My husband and I are yoga teachers, and we wanted to bring the vibrant colors of India to our wedding. In my research, I came across a cake online that was deep chocolate brown with a gold and bright pink henna design. It was exactly what I wanted. I went to a very popular Main Line bakery and spoke with someone who seemed to understand what we were looking for. I had a photo of the cake with me and we did a tasting. Unfortunately, when they came back with a sample cake of the design, it was WAY off and looked messy and unattractive. I was very disappointed and I spoke with the sales person who was rude and a bit annoyed that I was unhappy. She told me to research some cake stencils on the internet and call them back. I explained my situation and she asked me to email her a picture of my dream design. We made an appointment for a tasting and she said she would speak with the chef/baker/owner about the design. For one thing, the cake tasting was amazing. My husband who could care less about food, let alone desserts was in heaven. One tasted better than the next. A huge jump up from our previous tasting. Nina was not only listening to me, but excited about the very different design I wanted. She not only researched stencils and different ways of pulling off the design, but she ordered a few different sets of stencils and met with me a few times to talk about ideas and get my opinion. Great customer service! and I felt that they were happy and excited about the challenge of something different. Are they the cheapest bakery in town? NO. Did I want a cheap, unattractive, plain cake that had no flavor? NO. This is your wedding. Make it special and hire APD.
