  • Great resource for anyone asked to officiate. I'm a pastor who has officiated several Christian weddings, but when asked to officiate non-Christian weddings, this resource was a great resource to generate ideas/ rephrase portions of he wedding in neutral language. Organized well, easy to read. Professionals and lay persons would benefit from picking this resource up.

  • I actually bought this book a couple of years ago at the Wedding MBA national conference in Las Vegas. I had already done a couple of weddings using other resources, including stuff from professional officiants I knew. This book has become my "go-to" resource for every wedding I do. It's great for the first-timer with its simple layout, but has lots of details for those who do it more often to help us create new & unique ceremonies for each couple. I especially have appreciated using it as a "checklist" to make sure I've covered all the important parts of the ceremony. As a venue owner I have recommended it to couples I worked with, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who does not already officiate on a full time basis.

  • This book was a life saver. My sister asked me to officiate and luckily I came across Bethel's book. It had great suggestions and really put us on the right track - especially the page 42 questions which ask the couple to answer questions and stories about each other and their relationship. Suffice it to say, the ceremony was a tremendous success. The bride and groom were extremely appreciative and many attendees remarked how much they enjoyed the ceremony - especially the answers to the page 42 questions. Thanks Bethel!! We couldn't have done it without you.

  • I attended a wedding in Del Mar and was blown away by the personal touch the officiant had. Much to my surprise she did not know the bride or groom, but was discovered online where many soon to be newlyweds seek important roles for their biggest day. Fast forward a few years, and alas I have been asked to officiate a wedding for my friend. So I contacted the couple to inquire about their officiant and it turns out she had used the wedding workbook with my friends. It is a great interactive manual, that you can chose to use or not use, as much as you want. I've spent the last few days prepping the cards and sending emails to the couple engaging them to perfect their ceremony on the biggest day. I was skeptical about buying a pdf online, but it reads easy and has some examples to customize as well which was all I needed. There are so many details in the day of your wedding that I wish I had read this before my own wedding. Would highly recommend this to anyone seeking their own officiant... Read more

  • Asked to Officiate is hands down the best purchase for any "unofficial...official" I am so thankful to my photographer Heidi-O-Photo for recommending this to me. It has made our planning so much easier, more unique, thoughtful and expressive. Thank you so much for your thought, your humor and ultimately for sharing your knowledge!

  • We enlisted Bethel's help within the scope of her Asked to Officiate program! The level of pressure that is present when you're marrying someone is a very real thing. This is one of the most important and sacred moments in life! We needed an expert to help make sure this task was not only going to be completed professionally, but that we knocked it out of the park. We couldn't have done this without Bethel's help! Her ceremony expertise helps blend elements unique to these particular people, to them as a couple and their families. Having a blueprint of how to start planning this ceremony was invaluable!!! Not only does the comprehensive program help with the nuts and bolts of the ceremony, but nothing is left out- requirements for legality and ordinance, how to fill everything out- all of it is covered in perfect easy-to-follow detail. Can't say thanks enough.

  • My husband and I knew we did not want to get married in a church or have a very religious ceremony, but we had no idea what we wanted or needed to have the officiant say at our ceremony. We asked a friend to officiate who had never married anyone before, so he had no experience to guide us either. This book was so helpful. It had multiple examples of what to say for every part of the ceremony from the welcome, remembering those who passed, vows, exchanging rings, personal piece to the pronouncement. We picked and chose which parts we liked, which parts to include, mixed things up and added our own words, and we loved it! I don't know what we would have done without this!!

  • I'm lucky enough to know Bethel on a personal level because I worked with her when I owned a wedding planning company. Her reputation is beyond outstanding - she truly cares about not just every one of her couples, but also her peers in the wedding industry. Her ceremonies are highly personalized and her joy and passion for her job is inspiring! Now as a bride myself, if I lived in San Diego I would have hired Bethel at the drop of the dime (assuming she was actually available because I know how fast she books up), but we planned a destination wedding and chose to have a close family friend officiate our wedding. While he is an outstanding person and public speaker, you can imagine my fear as a former wedding planner who has seen countless ceremonies botched when a professional officiant wasn't hired. In comes Bethel to the rescue with her book 'Asked to Officiate'. http://www.askedtoofficiate.com/ I seriously don't know what I would have done without this workbook - my fianc... Read more

  • We found this officiant book to be helpful when planning our wedding ceremony. We chose a close family friend to perform the ceremony for us, and did not know how to go about creating a ceremony for him to perform for us, and neither did he. As a suggestion from our photographer, we purchased Asked to Officiate and we are so glad we did. There are many examples to choose from that you can use, or if you don't like any of them, you can easily edit them to make them what you want. If nothing else, the book is an excellent guide for laying out your ceremony. We highly recommend purchasing this book if you are having a family member or friend officiate your wedding. It definitely made our wedding ceremony perfect.

  • We had a friend officiate our wedding and he had never done so before. Having this book from Asked to Officiate was invaluable. It helped us format the ceremony and it gave us several options for each section. My husband and I took some of their vows to craft our own vows. They had options for more formal ceremonies, humerous/casusal, secular ceremonies and modern. It was well worth the cost for the book!

  • I stumbled on this website and purchased the book. My father officiated my June, 2013 wedding, and I was clueless as to how I wanted my ceremony to go. I did search online for examples, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I found this website and reviewed a little about the book. As I recall, and I could be wrong, I felt like this was a newer company and a newer idea, so with a little skepticism, I did purchase the book - they sold me on it! :) The book is nothing short of amazing! It is like a workbook, you sort of fill in the blanks on some of the sheets. There are so many different idea for conducting your own ceremony. I reviewed the book, filled out some of the things I thought would work well for us, and mailed the book to my father who lives in a different state. He then went through it, and between the two of us, and Asked to Officiate, we created a beautiful ceremony! If you're on the fence about this book, just jump right down! I had no idea about creating... Read more
