We had our wedding here last month -- ceremony on the lawn and reception in the Skyline ballroom. Everything went amazingly well -- our coordinator Hollie was super supportive and totally organized from start to finish, the staff was friendly and professional on the day of, and the food and drinks were raved about by my guests afterwards! It was a dream of a wedding and I'm so, so glad we chose this venue for our special day. The view was unbelievable and the space was absolutely perfect. I have no complaints! The only thing I will say is that there are multiple rooms / event spaces, so it is unlikely you will be the only event on any given day. But, that wasn't a problem for us, and our parties didn't get mixed up so I didn't mind this.

Admiral Kidd, is amazing. This is a beautiful venue with Hollie on the team our wedding went perfectly. The reviews of it being a nightmare, unresponsive, vetting was a challenge, this was the OPPOSITE of my experience. My husband and I are civilians and we had an out of town Sponsor and Hollie B. was more than helpful. She always answered my e-mails and calls within a day, sometimes minutes later. She was incredibly helpful on making our catering choices with the guest count of 150. We got married out on the lawn with a magical view and the reception was inside the Harbor Lounge. The room may look stately, but honestly with the view it doesn’t need much dressing up. We had simple décor and it was beautiful. What a beautiful venue with great views and big rooms. They are very affordable especially if your military which we are, the only thing is they sometimes are hard to communicate with and very precise on rules but totally makes sense because they are located on the base!

The venue is beautiful. But it's kind of hard to get a hold of someone. Played phone tag a lot. In all fairness I think they just hired someone new. And when I did go visit the venue it was super busy. So I can imagine them being overwhelmed a lot. It is military establishment so there are a lot of rules but at the price and the view I can let them slide. :)

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception here last October. The venue was great, but the view of downtown San Diego was the icing on the cake. We had a lot of out of town guests and they were blown away. I had an overall positive experience with this facility. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I received a new catering coordinator about 3 1/2 months before my event. She did great considering she was new to the position, and basically had to pick-up the clients from the previous coordinator (who was responsive and amazing!). We booked the Harbor Lounge, which was perfect for 120 guests. We went with one of the wedding packages, which gave our guests plenty of food and beverage options throughout the evening. Read moree air conditioning wasn't working in the bridal room or reception area. Heat normally wouldn't be an issue in October, but the weather was unusual that week. This is a military installation, and everything is tax-free, but their rules and requirements are different than other public facilities. A little extra work will be required on your end. Be sure to read the fine print before booking.

If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars I would. Since I signed the contract with them saying I would have my wedding there, I have had nothing but trouble. First the coordinator told me 150 people could easily fit into a room. I asked multiple times to be sure she was correct because the room appeared small. After signing the contract and receiving a layout, there was no way they could fit Comfortably in the room. I had to upgrade which would cost me at least 3K more (due needing to have 200 guests minimum for this new room and the catering plan we were picking). I also requested a new coordinator (March). My wedding is October 2016, it is now the last week of June 2016. They have not called me once to start planning or asking for payment. I found this odd. Upon calling them and leaving multiple voicemails (every 3-4 calls gets me one call back) she returned my call. We had to move the wedding one week back almost two months ago (May) because of my husbands work schedule (he's in t... Now they want me to move my wedding, to another location they have (which is just as beautiful as the first; however it's completely outside and right on the water with no real lights) expect me to pay extra for lighting and heating. Why should my husband and I pay for her mistakes? When I objected she implied that I was being difficult and that I should move my wedding to make it easier. When she is the single reason that I am having this problem. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The food is good (not great), however no amount of good food or a good view will makeup for them ruining my wedding.

We had our wedding at the Ocean View on the Point Loma sub base but did all of the catering and planning through AKC. We had a great day there. Some of the planning can get a little frustrating when you can't get answers as quickly as you'd like but all of those things disappear on the big day and you're enjoying the venue (which is beautiful) and the food (pretty good!). The staff at the Ocean View was awesome, very friendly and attentive. You can't beat the view for the price you're getting. We decided to not go with a wedding package and went with the fiesta buffet which we loved. My only real knock was the communication. I submitted my guest list two weeks prior (required for any function on base) but for the rehearsal it wasn't there which made that evening a bit of a mess. The venue was absolutely beautiful!! Right on the bay front with the downtown skyline view. Great during the day time with the beautiful water and breathtaking at night with the skyline view. We received great feedback from the guests and they all loved it! The food was average but their skyline room upstairs has a nice balcony as well. Overall, we are satisfied with our experience and we are glad we chose that venue.

We had our wedding at the Oceanview Room and this review is SOLELY for the catering- since the catering was through Admiral Kidd & that is your only option. Like previous reviews have stated it is VERY hard to get someone to call you back from this facility whether it be Catering Managers or even the Managers of the Catering Managers. The planning process was painful. Our Catering Manager took days to respond to e-mails and phone calls and we only really heard from her 90 days out when they wanted payment and to set the menu (of course since there is $$ involved). We were misled by our catering manager that one bartender would be enough for 140 guests and it will haunt me for the rest of my life. There was also suppose to be a bar set up during cocktail hour which was not- which meant most of the guest spent cocktail hour inside the facility waiting online to get a drink. So if you have anything over 100 guests I would suggest at least 2 bartenders. As for the food- the hor deurves ... Read morewere 90% likely from your local grocery stores freezer. All in all if I could do it again I would not deal with AKC again because if I'm to spend thousands of dollars i'd rather it be on a company who respects me as a client. It has become clear to me over the last year that AKC just really doesn't care.

Both my husband and I had attended a couple weddings at AK, and we knew what a spectacular venue this was with the ocean and downtown views. We booked our date 15 months in advance, and had to book on a Friday since Saturdays typically book out 2 years in advance. I am certain that this venue is the best value for the prime location. It is not, however, very flexible, since it is a military property. It's not a problem as long as you understand the rules and policies. We had our reception in the Skyline Room, which is the upstairs venue. You pay for a minimum of 200 guests, and we had 175. We talked them into counting our 8 children as part of the 200 (contract says they do not count toward the minimum). We appreciated that flexibility to save $ on the kids' meals. We were not pleased initially with the AK coordinator we were assigned. She made mistakes on our contract, and we were not impressed with her communication skills with us. Then we met Nancy Watson-Leone, Catering Ope... Read morerations Assistant, at one of our walk through visits. Nancy has been at AK a long time, and she is absolutely amazing. She talked us through any questions we had that were not answered by our assigned AK coordinator. She made sure we knew our options and reminded us to get our guest lists in on time so that we were in compliance with the policies. The reception at AK was perfect - from the set up with our sweethearts table, with the sunset behind us, and our loved ones at their tables on both sides of us, to the spacious dance floor, to the food. We did not expect much from the food since the tastings at the catering fairs were just OK. We had so many compliments from guests on our food! Even though we had buffet, AK was flexible in making two special orders for two guests with dietary restrictions. If you are open to the policies and rules at AK (as well as vetting your vendors for AK's approval), then you will love AK for your wedding! We would definitely recommend it.

The Admiral Kidd Club was ideal for us because they have a beautiful location right on the bay and downtown San Diego in the background. Because they are a military base they were not flexible with start/end times of cocktail hour and dinner (though our DJ made that happen on the day of, Jeremy from Party People San Diego). They are also not flexible with the start times of the ceremony, there are only 2. The food was decent, we chose salmon and prime rib. I heard the prime rib was better than the salmon. Our catering manager was very difficult to get ahold of and retired 3 months before our wedding without telling us. The communication lacks a little. Overall, a good experience with them though.

Amazing venue, everything was great. Wish venue allowed a longer reception.

Admiral Kidd in Point Loma is a very beatiful venue! The people there are very friendly, but you must rember due to it being on a Navy base there are many rules! I did not really have a problem with any of them but there is definitely not a lot of flexibilty with this place. I did have a wonderful experience there though!
