  • If you want your guests to have a good time and dance the night away at your wedding reception, immediately hire Royal Dukes Band!! They were absolutely awesome and we got tons of compliments on the band/music throughout the night. Ryan and the team are great to work with - from giving you an easy worksheet to fill out to prep for the reception, to quick responses to emails and everything in between - they were awesome! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed having them play at our reception. Hire them now!

  • We actually booked the Royal Dukes after seeing them perform at a friend's wedding (Brooke & George) where they were just so much fun we didn't want to leave (that's saying something when you're in you mid 30's and at a wedding every second weekend!). They were incredibly affordable, we hadn't even considered being able to afford a band before we were told how reasonable these guys were compared to other bands we looked at...! 3 players were all we needed and they just took hold of the night and again we found ourselves not wanting the night to ever end. Just awesome, thankyou forever Royal Dukes!

  • My wedding was held in Fredericksburg,TX at the Hoffman Haus November 9, 2013. We hired the Royal Dukes Band out of Austin and they absolutely made the night! I was so impressed by their professionalism and talent! Everyone at the wedding was dancing and asked about the band, the music was ridiculously good. The event coordinator at the Hoffman Haus said it was the best band they've ever had at their venue. I highly recommend this band to anyone looking for great live music for an event. All the musicians were very professional and since they do not book through an agent, very reasonable in price. We had Royal Dukes do a 3-piece Jazz trio at cocktail hour and then had an 8-piece band for dinner and reception. Fantastic pick!

  • Thank you, Royal Dukes Band! We were recently married in Galveston, TX. I heard about the Royal Dukes through online reviews and decided to check them out at Darwin's pub in Austin on a random Monday night. I immediately noticed their great sound and charismatic style. My husband and I have been to countless weddings in the past few years, often with bands that cost 10k to 15k (I know because I called them once we got engaged). Those bands are great, but the price tag - yuck. And not to mention, sometimes their sound is just so so. We were thrilled to find the Royal Dukes and booked them pretty quickly. We had a 9 piece band, and requested a few certain musicians we had seen in Austin. So, our Galveston reception had a mix of Austin and Houston musicians. They were excellent. Our guests could not stop raving about the band and neither could we! My husband and I couldn't even tell you more than five of the songs they played because we were having such a great time, but I do know t... Read more

  • We hired the Royal Dukes Band for our wedding after hearing them live at one of their showcases held at the Continental Club in Houston, Texas. A variety of band members sing and play at the different showcases so you can get an idea of who you want to perform at your event. We found the perfect match after hearing them. Danny was our lead vocalist and Josh Sheiman played guitar. I worked with Julian Eckmann on all the planning and detailed arrangements and he was so easy to work with and matched exactly what we were looking for. Our wedding reception was at Hotel ZaZa and the Royal Dukes Band played fun lively music. They opened with softer jazz like music while our guest arrived and hors d'oeuvre and cocktails were passed around. The band members along with Julian were very professional. We had a four piece band consisting of vocals, guitar, drums, and bass and they were all extremely talented. I am very pleased with this band and thought the value was fair for the quality of service... Read more

  • I'm not sure why there's only one other review about the Royal Dukes - they're simply amazing!!! They just performed at our wedding on June 1 and we haven't stopped receiving compliments on the live music. I have to firstly say that Ryan is absolutely awesome. He has a wonderful personality and is truly talented (he doubles as band manager and lead singer/guitarist). We went to listen to the band downtown Austin and loved every minute of it. We were a little skeptical at first since there isn't much info about them online, but decided to take the risk after speaking with Ryan via email and at the demo. The music itself is not your standard corny wedding singer music. They can play anything and even add a cool hipster-like twist to it. Being from NYC, I was elated to find a band that wasn't cheesy and predictable. I also like that they incorporate your requests into the mix. Ryan even went out of his way to download specific songs for me prior to the wedding for the break music (lit... Read more

  • The Royal Dukes played for our daughter's wedding and they were fabulous! Our guests literally danced the night away. The group is very versatile and can play any style of music. Our daughter and son-in-law loved them and many people said it was the best band they had ever heard at a wedding!

  • The Royal Dukes Band is actually a collection of musicians that can be configured in a variety of ways depending on what the customer prefers. All the musicians are extremely talented. Since the group is self managed, they are more affordable than a comparable agent managed band. Basically you pay by the musician, so with some restrictions (based on musical practicalities) you can get any number and combo you want for your event (instrumentals, vocals, etc). We went with a 9 member group for our daughter's wedding and they could cover pretty much any genre -- and do it well!! A sub-group performed Jazz at the cocktail hour, which was terrific. We fell down on the communications with the band and somehow the timeline for the reception got lost in translation, but they handled the late information well. Would definitely consider booking them for another event, although not planning another wedding anytime soon!

  • I hired Royal Dukes to play at my wedding after hearing them play at a local bar in town. They sounded amazing and Ryan, the bands manager and singer, was a breeze to work with. The played for my ceremony and reception and were absolutely great for both. The only issues I had were that I had requested the female singer that I saw at the demo, but found out right before the wedding that it wasn't the same female signer. The one they did send, was wonderful and I had no complaints, just wasn't the one I had originally heard sing. Also, I had wanted a few songs played and they were not able to do so. Instead of playing a song I had liked for the Father Daughter dance, they gave me a list of popular ones and I choose from that list. And for any other songs I wanted, but they couldn't do, I just hooked up my iPod to their speakers and played it that way. There was only one other song I had requested that they weren't able to do. Other than that, they were great! And they do have a very larg... Read more

  • Yeah, they were cost effective. Much cheaper than any other 8 piece band we could have booked. But you get what you pay for. They messed up our first dance as husband and wife, and no one stayed on the dance floor all night. They played jazz music-- nothing that any of the younger guests could dance to. We were pretty disappointed. They seemed so amazing from the showcase, when we previewed them prior to our wedding. Most of the musicians had GREAT talent, but it was pretty disorganized. I love music so much. I wish we could have had a more memorable experience. If you just need background music, they are your band-- but if you want an experience, don't book them.
