I found Michael on a weblisting. Once i saw his work -- beautifully composed images of couples, families, and friends through which, somehow, personalities seemed to shine -- I knew i wanted to meet him. Once we met him, his easy smile, warm personality and calm confidence quickly convinced us that were done looking. We picked his most inclusive package - full day, two photographers (his partner on that day, Maggie, was also phenomenal) some film, mostly digital. We are 100% satisfied with every aspect of Michael's service and product. Michael is a lovely person, easy to talk to, wants to get to know you and your partner so that he can really represent you both through his documentation of your "big day." In our case, that meant lots of candid party shots, not as many "glamour shots" of the couple (we wanted to be at our party!). Michael posted proofs on the web within a week or two. We got all of our photos (prints and cds) soon after (just over one month after the wedding). Family and friends are still raving about the pictures, and many have asked for Michael's contact info because they were so impressed with his work. I recommend him HIGHLY whenever i hear that a friend or acquaintance is planning a wedding. Not only will Michael capture gorgeous images of you and your loved ones, I can virtually guarantee that you will enjoy the time you spend with him, from the first meeting, through all planning, to the first nervous hours of the big day, till the last dance.

What a relief it was to get Michael to document my wedding. My husband and I got married on St. Croix and were left wanting something a little more when we looked into some of the available photographers on the island. I've known Michael since high school and knew what an amazing photographer he was and thought I'd go out on a limb and see if it would be possible to hire him for a destination wedding. I'm so glad we did! He was a much better deal than what was available locally and he is such a joy to work with. I love that he works as more of a photojournalist, capturing moments and memories instead of forcing poses. It was a laid back environment in which you could just enjoy yourself, knowing that he was getting the shots without being intrusive. We can't wait to see what he was able to capture so we can re-live that wonderful night over and over again for many years to come.

Michael is amazing! We came to New York from overseas for our wedding and he was very accommodating and extremely flexible to our situation. On the day he was unimposing, extremely professional and most of all took fantastic photographs. He totally captured our day and we are so impressed with our photographs. We highly recommend Michael!

My husband and I initially chose to meet with Michael because we loved his style of photography and after we met him in person, we knew he was the best choice. Michael made himself available for any wedding questions we had (not just photography related) from our initial meeting right up until our wedding day. Our photographs turned out beautifully, he was able to capture us, our family, and friends throughout the day without us even knowing he was doing so. He truly captured the emotions of the celebration. We have received countless compliments about how great Michael and his assistant were and how wonderful the photographs are. And the album he created post-wedding, is amazing. After I received mine, everyone loved it so much that I had to purchase additional albums as gifts. We could not imagine having a better experience than the one we had with him.

It was truly a pleasure working with Michael! He listened to all of our requests and followed through on every single one of them. He totally went above and beyond by taking some of our photos in the RAIN on our wedding day. We received all of our images and photo books in an amazingly timely manner (even quicker than he had promised!). We were soo soo happy with all of the photos. We would recommend him to everyone and hope we can work with him again in the future!

I know it tough to decide when a photographer get's all 5.0, but our experience with Michael was hard to find fault with, we had our own style for a wedding, we did a country bbq style reception in the heart of Manhattan. So why 5.0 for all categories? Quality of Service - Michael was responsive and attentive to our concerns and desires for the event. Responsiveness - Michael always e-mailed or called us back right away, there was no hunting him down or need for follow up. He was proactive. Professionalism - Michael works hard to understand his clients and deliver on the expectations. He was prompt and courteous to us as a couple, our guests and venue staff. Value for Cost - 5.0! The products we received as part of our package blew us away... our final album we showed to our friends and family and they wanted their own copies b/c things looked so good. Flexibility - This was very important to us and what we wanted to accomplish...and again he delivered. He understood our concept and how to fit in to it. We wanted a photographer who could capture moments of time, not so much the group shots and posing which was done. What was exceptional and really made for a great celebration album was that he was able to freeze moments of conversation, singing, dancing and it’s almost as if you could step in to the picture and back in to the party :) HIGHLY RECOMEND!

Michael Simon was really great for us. We chose him for his eye-catching documentary style and open and relaxed approach to wedding photography. Communicating and planning with Michael was easy and straightforward. While he does have a variety of wedding packages to choose from that are comparable to many other wedding photographers, he is also open to creating just the right package for you, tailored to your specific needs and wants. Michael and his assistant, Maggie were consummate professionals on the day of; they were absolutely flexible, accommodating, and unobtrusive - no awkward poses or forced smiles! They were able to capture all the big moments and all the little ones we missed too. We elected not to have anything printed immediately, so we had all our beautiful (digitjavascript:submitForm();al) photos edited and in hand within a few short months.

Our wedding took place at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. We had a list of recommended photographers, but found Michael on Facebook. I looked at his website and after our initial meeting I knew that Michael was the right person for our wedding. Michael makes you feel like you are his only client, he is very prompt in his responses, and most importantly his pictures are crisp, clean and they captured every beautiful moment of our wedding - without being intrusive! He is everywhere, but yet we didn't really notice. Michael was a pleasure to work with, and we are so happy with the final product and book we ordered.

Michael was an incredible photographer and one of the best vendors we hired. He met with us about a month before and reviewed the schedule with us. He was very flexible and willing to do whatever we wanted for our photos. He confirmed with us the day before and was incredibly professional the whole day. Everyone commented on how unobtrusive he was and what a genuinely nice guy! Our photographs are beautiful and friends and family have all commented on what a good job he did. Michael sent us a link to all the pictures while we were still on our honeymoon. We were also happy that he gave us our pictures on a disc so we can share them or print them as much as we want. I highly recommend Michael Simon for your wedding!

I found him totally by accident and was sort of nervous since my sister had had a really bad experience with her wedding photographer. I loved the style of photos he had presented online and was thrilled with the final wedding pictures (as well as the photos done through the photo station that he set up). The photos were ready in only a few weeks and I was given a full CD of the wedding photos (which was one of my sisters gripes...that she didn't have access to the majority of her photos without paying additional fees) in addition to the bound album. But more than anything else, he was very nice, straightforward, levelheaded, normal, and calm, which was not my experience with most people working in the wedding industry. I would happily recommend him to anyone.

Michael was cool and laid back. He made himself very available to us and promptly returned phone calls and e-mails. The day of the event he showed up early and didn't mind running around to get shots of both the bride and groom as we were getting ready. He brought a second photographer who was very sweet and also very professional. Something that really impressed us was how Michael was dressed during the event. I have been to too many weddings where the photographer was dressed in an ill fitting, basic tux that looked like it could use a good cleaning. Michael was dressed in a suit and tie and looked as if he could have been a guest at our wedding. He also seemed to be having a really good time. The pictures were ready in no time and were absolutely amazing. I absolutely, positively, and without hesitation recommend Michael Simon!

My wife and I worked with Michael on two occasions. Once with a wedding in Central Park consisting of my family and my wife's family (17 people total). We were very impressed not only with the work that he did, but it's just really great to work with someone who treats others with respect as well. When walking around the Park he was respectful not only with us and our families, but there were other couples taking shots and he let them do their thing. We enjoyed working with him so much that we decided to do a post-engagement session again in New York. This time we went around to Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, and Dumbo. Working with him again the second time around was just as enjoyable as the first. One other thing that I was impressed by was his professionalism and responsive nature to phone calls and emails. My wife and i were a bit concerned because we live in DC and working with someone in another city could cause some difficulties in terms of setting up appointments and making sure that everyone is on the same page. Michael was very flexible with our schedule and was able to deliver the DVDs and hardbound book to us within a few weeks after the event. I would recommend working with Michael any time. =)

I wish every vendor that I used for my wedding was as wonderfully professional and easy going as Michael. I don't know where to begin with all of the details of his work that I appreciated... 1. Michael took the time to get to know us and figure out exactly what kind of wedding we wanted to have and what kind of photography we wanted. 2. He had advice and suggestions for other vendors--he's been to so many weddings, he had leads for all of my ideas. 3. He checked in with me before the wedding and made sure he had a list of what pictures we wanted and who in our wedding party could be a point person for him. 4. He was fun, relaxed and relaxing on my wedding day. He got along with all of our friends and relatives and in the pictures they took that day--I see pictures of Michael snapping our picture and smiling. The final pictures are absolutely stunning. He provided us with a permanent online gallery that we can share with family and friends, a photo book and dvds of high res copies. Michael was sensitive to our needs that day and gave us just what we wanted. I can't recommend him enough as a wedding photographer.

I can't recommend Michael highly enough. I found him through Google-searching our venue, and liked his photographs right away. When we met with him, we both really enjoyed how he managed to seem at once very laid-back and also completely competent, which is exactly the vibe we wanted from our photographer. Michael offers a lot for what he charges (snap him up now before he wises up and starts charging more!) and is very flexible. Aside from his gorgeous pictures, my favorite thing about him is that he was totally on-the-ball: not only was he quickly responsive to our emails, he often initiated conversations so that we would stay on-track with planning. He reminded us of things we needed to think about and decisions that we needed to make. He worked with me well on my fairly picky "vision" and brought his own style to our photographs while never once overlooking one of my requests. After the wedding, many guests commented to us that Michael seemed to be everywhere at once. When we got the pictures back (lighting-quick turnaround!) it was confirmed: he was indeed everywhere at once and got all the good shots. Also, while many photographers of course put only their best work in their interview portfolios and on their website, Michael's photographs of our wedding all look like his best work.

Michael Simon was an amazing addition to our wedding day. As soon as we met him we knew he was the perfect fit as our photographer and honestly every aspect of his service was brilliant!! He was extremely reliable, friendly and accommodating to our requests, but also gave us his professional experience and added his artistic flare. We now have the most beautiful photos from our day and the most amazing tangible memories. Everyone who sees the pictures comments on how beautiful they are and Michael captured every detail in the most unobtrusive way. We were very lucky to have found him and I am confident that no one would be disappointed with his work and you won't find anyone better!

My husband and I were thrilled with Michael's service. We also got lots of compliments from friends and family about his professionalism and non-invasiveness, though he still got all "the shots." He met with us before the event to plan everything and give suggestions, but was totally open to us being very laid back about the posed photos. We also decided to extend the wedding one hour, but didn't ask Michael to stay since we had already signed the contract...well, he went ahead and stayed anyway so he could capture the whole evening. We could not believe how generous that was! Lastly, the photos were turned around SO quickly, both the hard prints and online. Oh, and when picking photographers always be sure to ask about owning all the negatives and rights to the prints (my husband was worried about that). Michael absolutely gave us all rights to the pictures, and they're even downloadable from the site. All in all, a great experience. It was so nice to not have to worry about the photography on such a stressful, busy day.

It was really a pleasure working with Michael, and now that the wedding's over his wonderful photographs mean more than I could have expected. They are a beautiful and honest documentation of the day, really captured the feeling of the moment and the people at our wedding. First a few things about Michael. He has a great, calm bedside manner and is very professional. He follows up to emails and calls promptly and with helpful information. He offers flexible packaging and is happy to work within a budget (even if it's tight). He doesn't use added (and unnatural) lighting, preferring to use whatever light is available. His work by candlelight is particularly lovely. He's a photojournalist by training, so unless you ask for it he won't have you pose this way and that for portraits or otherwise. Michael was totally unobtrusive and we hardly knew that he and his terrific assistant were there all night. One thing I'd definitely recommend is Michael's "photo booth" service, where he sets up a camera on a tripod during the party and guests can come by and take their own pictures with a remote control. This set-up yielded some of our very favorite wedding pictures because people were their most natural and hilarious selves. By allowing people to self-select having their picture taken in the photo booth, we got many more pictures of people who might have otherwise be missed. It also allowed a lot of flexibility for groupings and such. We received links to a sneak-preview of our photos online just days after the wedding and had the whole lot to come home to after our honeymoon, which was a great way to come back. We love our wedding pictures and couldn't recommend working with Michael more!

Last year, when searching for a wedding photographer, a good friend recommended Michael and after spending 3 minutes looking at his website my husband and I were on the phone setting up an appointment to meet in person with Michael to discuss him shooting our wedding. We were very impressed with Michael's professionalism as well as his photographic skills and felt completely comfortable in having him shoot our small wedding in Brooklyn. It was a relief to not have to worry about the photographer on the day of our wedding. Michael was unobtrusive and managed to cover every angle of our ceremony and reception and produced a body of work that made it difficult to edit down images for a photo album! Our first edit was over 100 images! We couldn't have been happier about the work that Michael produced and I'm pleased to be able to write this review. Michael is one of the good guys. A+
